How did you say your hippo got that sore?

after I added my sisters rock, later I noticed the bad places,I thought at first she was infested with ich,but she never acted like anything was wrong, eats like a pig, wasn't scratching or anything...she was very scared during and for a while after I added the rocks, she was darting into places too small for her to go,if she didn't scuff herself during that,I don't know what it is,but it's going away and she is still acting great :D

I see, at least she is doing great!

the hippo is all but healed up,she is doing great.....that 1 little spot is all that is left of the sores and it is barely noticeable now :D

the flame acts like it has been in the tank all its life, very active and constantly in search of food, even out with the rest of the fish bumming food when I walk by :D

My wife even knows when the fish need to be fed. They all swim back and forth at the front glass (what seems like an attempt to get my attention on the couch). Even the ones that don't get along, get along when they want food. :D

My wife will look at the aquarium and ask if I've fed the fish today, I'll ask why and she says they're all at the front glass looking at me.

My clowns will stick their entire head out of the water when I open the canopy. It's pretty neat watching them with their heads out of water looking at you.

they're more spoiled than mine  I'd like to see that......I've not had a fish that would do that since the oscars that I had, they would come out of the water and bite you for food....I didn't mess with 'em too much

My cichlids do that as well, seems like they hate me though, as soon as I open the lid they start splashing water all over the place and eventually splash me...once, the water got in my mouth and it had been a while since I had cleaned the tank...eeeeeewwwwwww, almost threw up!

that may have been their way of telling you the tank needed cleaned

I had a few cichlids once in a 29g,but never really kept them for long, they were just too aggressive for my liking, always picking at each other......but they are about the most colorful freshwater fish that I could find, the oscars were my favorites,I had 1 regular and 1 albino, they'd follow me like 2 puppys :D

Yeah that is why I like them, they are very colorful and aggressive. I remember my dad had three Oscars when I was a little kid, he had all three in a 25 gallon hexagon, I remember they used to wake us up at night from the chaos they would create in there. Wow, how little did we know about fish, especially my dad, imagine three Red Oscars in a 25 gallon hex. I am amazed at how long they lasted though, they got really big despite the size of the aquarium. Oh and maintenance...my dad used to put the Oscars in a bucket and empty the tank, clean the gravel thoroughly, clean the tank with a dish scrubber and dish soap and finally put a new filter in the tank. I am talking about 16-17 years ago...I dont remember what happened to the Oscars but thinking about it, they must have died for sure...I will ask him.

I was cleaning the 55g 1st a week, very messy, the people at the pet store told me when they get that big they need to be fed live food,I'd done made my mind up to get rid of 'em though,so they got some really nice oscars to resale for nothing,I was starting saltwater too,so my interest in freshwater was gone :D

I guess we will see if it happens to me too...I dont think so though.

I doubt you'll give up the cichlids, you've done acquired a taste for there water

looks like you've had great success with 'em,judging from their home, and the work you're putting into their soon to be new home, tells me you are planning on them staying around for a while longer

   yeah I did acquire the taste for their waters :D

So far I like my cichlids very much and I dont see them going anywhere in the near future. Plus the longer I have them the more they grow on me.
