Hello All,

I am adding this loc tight attachment as noted in this thread.

I was planning on using JB weld however am not sure if it will leach any bad stuff into the aquarium. Has anyone used anything that can hold plastic together, won't degrade in water and would handle the 1,300gph for my return?

Thanks again everyone - love the site and all the great folks here who are helping me to make sure I don't mess this thing up.

I have used JB Waterweld for years in my tanks without an issue. The fact is that I have used so much I've considered buying stock in the company just so I get get some of my $$$ back as dividends!

Between that and whatever brand superglue gel is cheapest that is all I use to attach corals to the rocks.

For plumbing, PVC solvent (for slip/slip fittings) and PTFE paste (for threaded fittings) is all you should need. If the threaded fitting is inside the tank, I don't use anything at all because although it might leak a bit (who cares - it's in the tank) it will be much easier to get apart. The pressure in aquarium plumbing is so low that anything more is just a waste of time.

Reporting back. The J-B Weld Waterweld worked great. It is very strongly connected and I believe the 900psi claim. It can be messy. After its 48 hour full cure I will cover it with some reef safe black silicon to hide it as it cures white. Thanks again everyone!
