Reef Brite LED's - Now Taking Orders!

The MH / LED combo pendants are still available. The LED's that flank the sides of the MH pendants have in creased from 6 to 12 total now as well.

I have not heard of any updates for the dimmable power supply yet, I apologize.

are they on the premium aquatics site? I tried the link earlier in this thread and did a manual search but came up with nothing.

I originally posted back on 08/09/2010 this 1st pic of my duncan in the LPS Forum just after adding a 48" Reefbrite LED blue strip to my tanks T5 setup. After 2 months and adding a 2nd blue RB LED strip it has really colored up even more :fun4:....you can clearly see there are defining pinstrips of different shades of neon to darker green now and the polyps are individually larger than a silver dollar and just shy of a medium sized soup can!

My wife calls it Medusa...lol

With a brand new ATI Blue Plus 24", with a smaller SunBlaze reflector behind it, I am seeing around 250 - 275. At the same distance with the ReefBrite I am hitting 485 - 510. I should recant that it's not quite double, or more than double, just depending on the reading. If you've ever used a par meter you know that they jump around a bit when just holding them, and not permanently attached to something.

Here are photos of the 24" strip ramping up at the displayed wattages....

Hi Jeremy. Couple questions. Saw your above PAR ratings from earlier. Am I correct that those were taken with the "old" type power supply (the 24v adjustable)? If so have you done any PAR re-tests with the new non-adjustable power supply? And are they still being driven at 24v?

Apologies if I missed it in the thread.

I am setting up a 9g nano and want to use only LED light. Should I go with 2 15 inch strips or is 1 suficient? How wide are the strips? Any recommendations on the colors - one 50/50 one blue?

@cato - I have not tested them with the new power supplies yet, I apologize.

@native trout - I would recommend a blue and a 50/50, or possibly 2 x 50/50, depending on what you want the coloration to be like.

Hi, I have a 175 bowfront with 12 36 inch teklight t5's. Im getting ready to replace all bulbs since its been well over 16 months since I bought them. I would like to purchase a all blue reef brite fixture for supplement and to give that extra punch of blue, but want to know if one 48" inch fixture is sufficient if i place in the center. will the 48" give me dead spots or do i need to go with 2 36" to get overall coverage? ? I was assuming no since they are so strong. Im actually beggining to think I may not be able to fit the 2 36 since they will be placed in the front of the tank and thats where it bows. What can I do?

Anyone have these mounted on an ATI t5 fixture? I was curious how that looked.

I'm planning on mounting a 15" reefbrite on each side of my 6x24 ati sunpower. I'm just waiting to hear if there will actually be a new dimming model.

I'm also interested to see if anyone has attached one to an ati before.

Do we know how much electricity these use? I want the 48" ones, but my primary motivation is to reduce the power bill...

There is no eta on the dimmable version yet, as of this morning.

The 48" version will be running right around 30w total power consumption.

Got my 48" blue last night and put them in today. I'm currently running 4 t5s (1 aquasun, 1 ati aquablue special and 2 ati blue +).

With just the LEDs on, just going by what I see, I cannot honestly say that they are equal to 2 blue +s (I read earlier in this thread something to thay effect). However, they clearly add. I can also tell when they are on with all the T5s on. With the T5s on, they do mask the LEDs a lot.

As far as "pop" goes, they don't seem to do a whole lot for SPS (except for the superman and sunset monti), but my acans, chalice, candy cane and especially the zoas GLOW with these.

I'll post some pics tomorrow eve for comparison. I could see adding a white one in the future to possibly replace the aquasun or the blue special. For now, I would have to say the T5s are needed for spectrum, but hey, it's only one day so far.

Hey Snookster, please definitely share pics of the setup. I was also planning a 4-bulb T5 fixture and then added a RB LED strip. I'm curious how your coloring is and what you think about the setup after its been in for a few days.

Here's a couple I took real quick. No PS, used the same setting, wb , etc on the camera so the can be compared apples to apples. I had my 5yo helping me, so I'll have to get some later with just the LEDs, etc.

After looking at it today, with the 2 blue+s and the LEDs, it's got a more purple hue to it. I might lean towards replacing 1 blue+ with a 10k or12k for a wider spectrum.
