Reef Brite LED's - Now Taking Orders!

@e85GTX - I'd suggest at least two of the XHO's, although three would be better. Doing a white in the middle, and then a blue in the front and back would be a very nice looking setup.

@J23ames - The XHO is going to give you more blue overall, where the Illumilux would give you more of a shimmer effect. I"d suggest the XHO if you want color only.

Thanks Jeremy B! Just placed my order for 2 All White XHO's. I'll Probably add a 3rd 50/50 or an all Blue later on depending on how I like the color scheme with my 36 in Blues that I aready have.

I am using a 8in 50/50 Reef Brite Tech LED for my refugium. Is that more than a plenty light for a refugium?

I have a 60 cube with 2x T5s and a 175 watt MH bulb. I'd like to add a Reefbrite strip to enhance the color a bit (my current lighting is on the crisp white side).

Will the 12 inch model be sufficient? Or is the 24inch model a better choice? Should I go with the XHO?

Thanks!

I have a 75 reef with softies and SPS, with 2 48" single tube fluorescent strips right now, one 10,000k and one 420nm. I am looking to replace these strips with 2 48" ReefBrite Tech LED strips. I keep going back and forth about doing a 50/50 + white combo or keeping blue + white combo. I'm really looking to grow out some of my small SPS frags and friends have recommended the 50/50 + white combo. I don't want to lose all the blue though.

Also right now the fluorescent strips are sitting right on top of my glass canopy. I have no room to mount or hang lighting above the tank, as I have a cabinet above the tank that is not centered. I've seen others debate over whether putting fixtures right on top of glass is a viable option. Can I do this with ReefBrites? I have been thinking about using the provided legs to get the fixtures just above the glass and/or eliminating the glass completely. The legs look secure to me, though I've never used legs/mounting brackets before. The glass top has been used as a cat deterrent more than anything at this point (I'm hoping that the cat has lost interest in fishing if I remove the glass).

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest going with an all white and all blue, or 2 x 50/50 combos. Doing the all white and then a 50/50 is most likely not going to be the color mix you're after, it's going to hardly have any blue to it at all. I've even had quite a few customers go with an all blue and a 50/50 mix when running two modules.

I would suggest using the L brackets that come with them to prop them up off of your tank just slightly. You could set them right down on the glass, but I personally do not like that as a long term option for heat dissipation purposes for longevity of the LED's.

Reef Brite for Fluval Spec v

Reef Brite for Fluval Spec v

Planning a 5g nano all-in-one with the Fluval Spec v tank. What wold you recommend to replace the stock LEDs. Want enough for LPS and zoas/rics.

Has any body added these reefbrites to the front and back of the ati dimmable sunpower units? If so could you give a brief description of how you did it and possibly add a picture. It looks as if people added theirs to the left and right side of the fixture.

Also is it safe to assume that if you want more color pop than the all blue units (xho) models are the way to go? If you want more shimmer than go with the all white (xho) models?

Tank is 96 * 24 * 32

Currently lighting is three 400 watt MH. I would like supplement them with four 24 inch blue RB running front to back between and on end of the MH pendants. My canopy will not allow for a couple of 48 inch RB in the front. Should I go with the regular RB or the XHO?

Hi all,

I have a 210 gallon reef and currently I have three 250 watts MHs (10K) with four 96 watts PC actinics. I just ordered the 72" XHO actinic from Reefbright and I would like to know the following:

1. Will that set up give a really nice intense, bright but deep blue cast?

2. How do I connect RF to my Coralife fixture? My LFS told me to apply double adhesive tape to it and mount along the edge of the CL fixture.

Thanks DP

Jacob - I supplement my 150 cube (and former 92 corner) with two "regular" Reefbrites and I love them. I believe if you read some previous entries on this post subject, even Jeremy believes the "regular" Reefbrites would be fine for your application.

On that length of tank and running with 400w MH's I'd definitely suggest using the XHO. I don't think you'll be happy with what you get from the standard Tech's combined with 400's. If you had 250's Id say go with the Tech's, but if you're really looking for punch and a really big difference when they're on I would do the XHO.

I am looking for an LED strip that I can use with my Tek Elite 48" 6 bulb fixture over my 55g. Looking for more pop/color from coral as well as some improved growth. Someone had told me I can put the 48" tech led right onto my Tek fixture. Is this true? Also looking for advice on what colors to get.

I have the 8 bulb elite and I recently dug up my reefbrites to add a bit more light. The screws on the fixture line up nicely with the reefbrite mounting.
Actually looks pretty slick.

I have a white and blue which works for me (the white adds some shimmer when I only have 4 bulbs going) but I run a whiter 12-14K look (4 blue plus, 2 coral plus, one purple plus and one GE6500). The white is around 8K I think - it's really ugly on its own - so you do need enough blue in your T5 bulb selection to tame it.
