Reef Brite LED's - Now Taking Orders!

Hello Jeremy:

I don't have a splitter - two power supplies.

Also, i have an Apex with the vdm to run my Tunze pumps. What type of cable is required for the dimmer?

Thanks,

Hi Jeremy,
My 100g tank is 48Lx24Wx20H. I was running ATI Powermodule 6 bulbs and 1 48" blue Reefbrite. 2 ballasts in Powermodule gave up on me and I believe I have a short circuit in the fixture.
I have 2 blue Reefbrites right now. I have mostly sps and clams on sand. If I switch to all Reefbrites, will that be enough? If it does, what do you recommend?
On Reefbrite's website, it stated Available Colors are "Natural Daylight, 50/50 and Actinic Blue and Red", Is "Red" available?
Thanks!

You would need a splitter with a single power supply and a splitter to run them both, or two dimmers. If you have a 90w power supply on one of your modules now that will run 2 x 36" XHO strips. The basic cable from Neptune with wire leads on the end will work and you can wire on your own adapter to the end.

I'm assuming these are standard RB's, not XHO's? You could do it with 4 strips total, however if it's an all SPS tank my own personal preference would be to repair the ATI fixture and stick with that and use the RB's to supplement with it.

Hi Jeremy,
I did try to fix my Powermodule. One ballast failed initially and I might have stripped a wire somewhere while I was trying to fix it that in turn burned the other one and the new one I just bought. Also it's the time to replace the bulbs that's why I gave up on it.

These two Blue RB's were standard ones that I purchased in March, April 2011. Do I need 2 more standard ones or XHO's? and what color should I use? I like blue look but shimmer will be good. I plan on using th 5 hole bracket as well.

Thanks!

I would just stick with the standard units, I don't think you will need the XHO, even with it being an all sps system if you're running that many modules.

If you purchase two more then I'd suggest doing another all blue and then an all white. I'd put the all white in the middle, and the blues on the outer front and back of that.

Jeremy,

I will be using (2) XM 250 watt 10K SE metal halide bulbs within Lumen Bright mini wide pendant reflectors for my reef tank that is 60x26x26. I want to use the ReefBrite blues to supplement. My questions is, should I go with the Techs or XHOs? I should say I like the actinic lights to have a more light blue colour than dark blue. I know many like the very dark, almost purple look but that is not me.

I will be using 2 strips, one in front of the MHs and one in back.

The MHs will be about 17 inches from the top of the water. I plan to have the Reef Brites even with the MHs, so it will also be 17 inches from top of water.

Thanks.

Have you ever ran any other supplementation with 10k 250 XM's before? If so, what was it you ran with them and were you happy with it? Also, what other lighting systems have you ran with which bulbs? Let me know so I can get an idea of what you're used to seeing. Neither the Tech's or XHO's would give you that dark blue look when ran in conunction with 10k 250 XM's.

This is my first time with MHs. In fact I am getting back into the hobby after 8 years of saving and reading about our great hobby. Before that I had a 120 gallon reef and used PCs. (a lot has changed during those 8 years) I liked the blue that the actinic PCs gave as a dawn to dusk light and would like that same color again. I am not concerned about the reef brites being too blue after the MHs come on. I am concerned about them being too blue before the halides come on.

Thanks.

It sounds like you're after more of a 14k look, or a 10k look with strong actinic. I would suggest using the XHO's and then you could dim them down with the ReefBrite dimmer before and after the MH's being on. This can be automated with a dimmer if you have an external controller such as an Apex to regulate a 0-10v signal to the unit, or you'd have to do the dimming manually.

Hi Jeremy,
I have a 90G corner tank with 2 50/50, 1 blue and 1 white. All 36". Is that enough or to much light for my tank. I have some BTA's, a carpet and ome leather's. the BTA and the carpet seem to be losing color. Any input would be greatly appreciated. THANKS

I would think that is plenty enough light for you, however it could be lacking just a little. I'm assuming the carpet is down on the bottom in the sand? Is it shrinking, growing, or staying the same?

I don't want to cast a negative light if you will PTP, but I have just recently noticed an issue with my 6 foot XHO.
There is a bank of 6 leds which are not working. I suspect this must have something to do with a modular assembly for wiring.

I did purchase the unit from PA last December. It has been great up to this point.
Being in Canada any warranty issues going back to the States are quite a pain.

I'm wondering if anyone has had one of these apart before. I don't want to void the warranty but at the same time I'd be willing to fix it myself if possible.

Jeremy you have a great deal of experience within the hobby. Aside from your competitive pricing it is the customer support you demonstrate on this site which has made me a customer. So now it is my turn I guess.

Can you contact Reef Brite on my behalf and see if there are any options which don't involve me needing to ship this thing?

Thanks,
Stu
