Reef Dynamics Skimmers

Great pump, but way too loud in my experience. That is the whole reason I am changing out my skimmer. It is by far the loudest thing in my house. I have tried cleaning the pump and adjusting my plumbing all without success. It got to the point where we were unplugging the skimmer either to watch tv or when company was over just to quiet the noise.

Yea, my first experience as well. I found that running in my hand in my mix tank it still transmitted a loud hum. As I said, with the replacement impeller, it is notably more quiet but I don't yet know what it will sound like attached to the skimmer and in the sump. But, again, some say they are silent so there must be some wide variation in quality control.

I haven't figured that out yet either. I have mine on a Hurricone cat2e skimmer which is the SRO predecessor and it is ungodly loud. Yet I have talked to SRO users who say they can't even here them.

i had a euroreef, then a SRO, now back to reef dynamic. They rock performance wise, although the pump is rather noisy. Would like to see if it would be possible to hook up a bubble blaster 2000 to the skimmer as I did really enjoy the quiet operation of the bubble blaster.

It is possible: I did fit a BB 2000 to my euroreef 135. It attaches exactly the same way as the Sedra did but as I say above, my first try was too noisy.

So it attached to the stock elbow without any problems? I assume the height is correct as well for the output into the elbow? I have an ecoplus pump on mine, I assume its the same specs as the sedra.

Taylor:

Negative. The BB 2000 outlet is metric. I installed a new rubber O ring at the required height and slightly turned down one end of a 2" length of PVC to slip into the BB outlet in the same way the Sedra mounts except no elbow is needed. Instructions to fit a different pump and the rubber O ring are found on the euroreef website. I can plug the unused pipe and switch pump models easily.

If you had a picture that would be great.

The new INS400, still a mess of cables to be cleaned up. The shot was shortly after setting it up. It is starting to break in nicely and is really quiet.

I met them at the recent show here in LA and I have to say, I was impressed with his lineup, especially the Biopellet reactor. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

i have 2 INS-80's and they are great. simple, mine are much larger than the tank they are rated for. reliable so far. i really like mine so far

Breaking in nicely, pulls like crazy and whisper quiet. Love it. I have been busy with work so I still need to dial it in a bit, it pulls a bit wet still.

Just wanted to say that I sent my pump back to Jeff at Reef Dyanamics and when I got it back the pump was DEAD silent. Great customer service. Super happy that this pump is now quiet, as it was a noise machine when I first got it. I'd recommend that if your ecoplus pump is loud there is something wrong with the impeller. RD skimmers are top notch
