reef fish

Pic number one is on the top floor. The white stair railings thingies are coming down and will be replaced with wrought iron scroll and dark wood hand rails. I guess the former owners replaced the floor but didn't want to change the railings O.O So, try to ignore that.

As you are going up the stairs...

The frame texture matches the rings of his tail. The black will match the new railing.

As you know, good framing ain't cheap, and your pix are getting nothing but the best (museum quality paper/matte, non-UV-non-glare glass, etc.).

That SH painting really looks awesome "in person".

Greg,

It definitely shows..

amazing paintings! I wish I could draw fish! I tried once but they didn't come out very well...very challenging to paint! Guess I'll stick to horses. Really like your firefish!!

You captured the shape of the copperband's head perfectly. I'm not feeling the mystery wrasse as much even though the colors are beautiful. That's not quite how I picture the mouth. Maybe I'm wrong. I love your work.

How about a painting of a reef with multiple fish and coral that would be amazing, and with the quality of your paintings I'm sure you could pull it off.
Great work keep it going

small alien..something did get away from me on the mystery wrasse..the lip does extend a bit too much ..sometimes I work from one photo and the angle might be a little weird and I and I dont realize it until its too late with watercolor once it drys there is not much you can do to fix it...
actually Its funny you should mention invertebrates I have been looking at a lot of nudibranch photos the last couple days for some watercolors..

and I am in the planning stages for a reef scene..I am thinking something biggish--maybe a three panel triptych of a little bommie with lots of dascyllus and anthias..I dont know I have to survive the next two weeks at work first

as always thanks for the compliments
