Reef Safe Angel Options

Okay, I'm trying to figure out what is most likely to be sucessful in the longterm out of two scenarios.

Currently I have one female blackspot angelfish (3-4") who is doing quite well in my tank and I want to add another angel to the mix. My LFS just got a male in about thats about the same size. How bad of an idea would it be to add this guy in there straight away after QT? or could I pull the female out and have her in the QT with him the whole time? I'm not sure how angelfish pair up and I don't really care if they do right away, I just don't want the male murdering my female or the other way around...

My other option is to dump the blackspot I currently have and get a much smaller specimen to eventually put in my DT with a female bellus I currently have in QT. This bellus was given to me by a friend and I've weened her back to peak health, so she could easily find another home given her QT is almost finished :D

I would like to do one of the two if possible, I've just learned to be alot more cautious with my fish purchases after my sailfin went nutso on one of my other tangs (everyone survived and mr sailfin is being banished to a FOWLR setup)

I think it's a pretty big risk adding angels that are older. They've already developed the taste of corals in the wild. I've had good success in adding juvenile angels. They really haven't had a chance to develop a taste for corals and if you keep your tank well fed, they really won't have a reason to taste the corals in your tank.

I'm sure there will always be exceptions, but you're talking about odds.

True, I got lucky with my older female blackspot. She attacks nori but leaves my coral be. I feed heavy so most of the time my fish are to preoccupied to murder my coral :)

You should go for the second option. Adding another angel is will not be good, especially when you yourself are not sure about their behavior.

Just like "Dmorty217" I would also prefer the Bellus route.
