Reef Savvy/St Judes 100 Gallon Dream Tank Giveaway

Congrats on winning the tank looks real nice.

Thank you!

Nice work with the light stand Marty, man oh man is that rock going to look bright and white lol. :p

Thanks for reminding me again lol :debi: This is the first time I have ever used dry rock. I kind of have mixed emotions about it. The plus side, I won't be riddled with pests right off the bat. But then on the other hand, it looks sterile and stark white for a long time. :hmm6:

Any updates Marty?

I actually made some progress this weekend and got my plumbing all sorted out. I installed a fan on the back wall and mounted my vertex libra doser. I think I am going to mount my apex system on the back wall up high just left of the exhaust fan. I plan on mounting my 4 ecotech pump drivers on the left wall. I am hoping to start filling the tank with water by next weekend.

Very nice. Did they not offer the ghost overflow when they built yours?

No, it was always advertised with a corner overflow. IIRC, Felix said he had the bottom pane of glass drilled on this tank for quite some time. Did you get a chance to check out this years raffle? It just ended this past Friday.

No winner announced yet either as far as I can tell. I'm nervously twitching my foot on this one.

Check out Reef Savvy's FB page. They announced the two top prize winners on Saturday. There were 3 other winners for the smaller items as well. Julian Sprung won the Orphek flashlight which I thought was kind of funny :lol2:

Hi Marty. I did check out the raffle and if you notice a very strong correlation between my username and the grand prize winner, you may be able to understand my line of questions. :)

Toothy, the winners were drawn late Sat night. I found out about the #s on Sun AM.

Thanks. I've never seen the ghost overflow before, but this year's prize has it included. I've always had a corner overflow, so I'm trying to understand the mechanics behind it. I suppose I could call Felix/Reef Savvy.

Well the tank is finally wet! I added a piece of raw shrimp yesterday to kick off my cycle. Also, I threw in a couple pieces of my Marco rocks that have been curing for a few months. I still need to take time and come up with a true aquascape. Something interesting I noticed: When I first filled the tank with RO/DI water I ran the tank for 4-5 days without adding the salt. The water became kind of cloudy looking. Could this be some kind of bacterial bloom?

Currently I am not happy with the eheim 1262 return pump and how much noise its producing under the tank. Don't get me wrong, its a great pump. I just feel it's too much flow for this small sump and I am thinking off getting a pump half its size. I still have micro bubbles which is normal at this stage. All in all, things are going pretty smooth. You can't really tell with these iphone pics, but those Orpheks put out a ton of light!

Looking good.
I like how high you have the LEDs mounted. Probably a good idea because I think those lights are extremely powerful.

Yes, the Orphek rep told me 14" above water level. I'll use the coral acclimation mode when first introducing the coral.

What's the setting looks kinda dark. Tank is coming along nicely love rimless tank.

That's all 4 channels on full power. It is much brighter in person. The iPhone cannot cope with the intensity.

On a side note, the tank is still cloudy and has actually gotten a little worse the past 2 days. I am running BB and the the salinity is 1.025 at 78 deg, using aqua medic salt (it was the salt that I had won). I haven't started up my skimmer yet. Could this possibly be a bacterial bloom?
