Reef Savvy/St Judes 100 Gallon Dream Tank Giveaway

I am finally starting my new tank build thread! As some of you already know, I was the (beyond ecstatic) winner of the 2014 Reef Savvy/St Jude's Dream Tank Giveaway contest. I received the tank in 2015, so that's why it's signed 2015 on the back. Here is a link to the raffle winning: https://www.smore.com/qhh2t-want-to-win-a-100g-reef-savvy-tank?ref=email

I currently have a jam packed SPS dominated 30 gallon rimless, and I cannot wait for the new tank to be up and running for the additional realestate it has to offer. The tank is 48x24x20H, 4 sided low iron glass with the high impact phantom bottom. The tank truly is a piece of artwork! Today was a major milestone as we raised it onto the stand. I received my last piece of equipment from the raffle in April, and I have been taking my sweet time setting everything up.

This new tank will be heavily SPS dominated. I am still vacillating between going BB or a shallow sand bed. I will be using two of Orphek's new Atlantik pendant LED lights. I am a MH guy at heart, so this will be a new venture for me. I am still so very thankful for all of the sponsors who chipped in for this event, and for such a great cause! I believe they are doing it again this year, so you should all check it out. So with all that being said, I will post some pictures of where I stand today.

Thanks biggles.... Haha I doubt it! My back still hurts from lifting that beast! 3/4" thick glass bottom with 1/4" PVC

wow i have nothing else to say i have never won one thing at all in my whole life good job

Thanks guys! Yeah I know, I've never had any luck either. I bought 1 ticket and set a reminder to check the drawing on Thanksgiving night. Before I left my mother-in-laws house I joked around with everyone and said "yeah, I need to go home and check the winning numbers because I probably won the big prize". Everyone laughed and joked around with me about it. I never in a million years thought I could possibly win out of thousands of entries. So anyways, to make a long story boring... I came home and checked my numbers and I had to double check them 3 times. I went running into the family room and could barely get it out of my mouth to my wife that I had just won!! It was a great moment :)

Congrats so are you taking up any of the offers to set the tank up?

Savey's are truly a art piece.

Thanks! No, I didn't take up the offer for the tank installation. I could have, but for me half the fun is doing it myself ;)

I also drove down to Miami to pick up the tank in my personal vehicle. I'm close enough to where it just made sense. Didn't want to risk it with a shipping company.

Congrat on winning the tank. Beautiful.
The tank has an internal overflow on the left hand side right? What's the dimensions of the overflow box? How many holes inside? How thick are the glass panels?

Thanks

Thanks everyone! Yes internal overlflow, left back corner. The overflow is 7x5 if I remember correctly. I can double check. Only two holes... 1.5" drain and 3/4" return. The side panels are 1/2" thick low iron, and the bottom is 3/4" glass with 1/4" pvc liner and 1/4" vinyl. The overall thickness of the bottom is 1.25".

This is one sweet sweet tank. I never win anything either. So well done. Can't wait to see this setup.

Wondered who won this, such an amazing prize congrats. I feel ya on the metal halides, I'm biased and won't use anything but halides. Sale your LEDs and do it up right.

My brother-n-law whipped up some vinyl graduation marks for my 20 gal extra high top off tank. Turned out pretty good I think.

Very nice tank. :) I would also sell the LEDs and go with the lighting you're most comfortable with.
