so where is the best deal to get these? Evergrow? I don't see any prices on their website. What's the best way to go about getting them. Do I just email them and let them know I want a pair of them?
reef breeders has them cheaper then the canadian dealer or the original manufacturer?
I got an email back from Evergrow and they were the exact same price as Reefbreeders for the photon32's. So I bought from Reefbreeders obviously.

I was using my formula based in part on what Reef Breeders posted on p.3 of this thread. This would be my guess...I like this 'formula'. It simplifies things a bit (perhaps more than intended) but it could potentially be an easy way for buyers to decide which fixtures are right for them.
What depth are you giving for this formula to be effective?
For tanks under 24" deep, 120 degree. 24"-30" deep, 90 degree 36"-40" deep, 60 degree. Some of these specs overlap.
We have a custom optics layout that will be standard on all fixtures starting 2/21/13. You can mount it as low as 6" over the water, 8-10" is suggested.
I was using my formula based in part on what Reef Breeders posted on p.3 of this thread. This would be my guess...
60* = +4" spread from all edges (8" maximum between fixtures)
90* = +6" spread from all edges (12" maximum between fixtures)
120* = +8" spread from all edges (16" maximum between fixtures)
Ah, I think I see what you mean. I was under the assumption that the PAR decrease by using the different optics was balanced out by reducing the depth of the tank. Again, my formula is not based on any testing... and I would love to see some done on a trough or big enough tank like the picture I posted on the previous page (so we can see where the PAR drop-off really is). However, I did make adjustments based on optics used. It would go as follows...Going from 90 degree optics to 120 degree optics causes over a 100 PAR drop from the same height. You may also be affected by light spill, in which the light spills outside of the tank and will further decrease PAR.
Using 60 degree optics will increase the intensity of light being focused under the light, and unless you are running a deep tank, you are very much likely to fry some coral.
The 16" fixture with 90 degree optics (and some 120 mixed in) works great over 24"x24" sections. The 32" works great over 36"x24" sections, but can work over a 48" with reduced light on the sides. Wide tanks may need multiple smaller units running front to back.
