Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

I'm planning on getting 2 photon 16's for my 30x30x20h tank. do you guys recommend I get 90* optics or 120* optics? Keep in mind I want as much light for all sides of my tank, without having much, if any, light spill out the sides. SPS only tank.

edit: I guess according to the chart above. With 90* optics I'd only be short 2 inches total. I'll probably do that since I don't have my rock up against the glass, but a couple inches away from it. Does this sound logical?

Id go with 120 for that setup

Light spread is also is affected by how high above the water you hang the lights. Plus the refraction when the light hits the water bends the light downward (like a tighter optic). If you are running a canopy, I'd suggest the 120, no canopy, I'd suggest the 90. I run an IT2080 with 90 lenses 8 inches above a 4x2 tank and still get a little bit of light spill.

90 degrees on the blues, whites, and violets, and no optics for the cyan (green), and red leds work nice, despite the spill. It reduces disco quite a bit.

Due to another reefers suggestion on this thread, I was going to have my 3 "moonlights" on the photon 16 switched over to violet LEDs to cut down on the intensity of light the blue 480 nm produced during the night. Do you guys think this is a good idea? I like the idea of my moonlights not being so bright, but I wondered if cutting out the 480's would decrease my total light spectrum for the tank.

I haven't seen it myself, but I don't think I would very much like violets as moonlights. If you do go with that, order some 480 blues to swap them out just in case.

I have a 48x18x30 that I'd love to stick a Photon32 on. My question is: Will a 32" cover or will I need to go with two smaller versions? Really wanting the 32, but don't think the 60* optics will spread enough to cover the sides while still hitting the bottom with any decent PAR.

You don't need 60 degrees with a 30" tank. 90 is fine

Another thought as I try to determine what fixture(s) to buy... what do you think about going with 60* optics and raising the fixtures up higher? I have an in-wall, so I can mount my lights as high as I want. This is what originally attracted me to the Lumen Brights... because I could hang them at 16" while keeping more light in the tank (as opposed to spilling light through the glass), and the PAR stays more consistent at different depths in the tank.

For my 48"x24"x24" I think I'm leaning toward (2) 16" fixtures @ 2" apart, using 60* optics mounted at 16" high.

For those with extensive experience with these lights: What would you recommend for a Marineland 250 Deep Dimension Tank 5ft wide (left to right) 36"deep (front to back) and 24-27 tall (sand to top of water) This tank is currently lit by 4 400W Radiums and 4, 60" T-5's (super blue and actinic) for when MH's aren't on. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would love to switch to LED's but 3K ($2,400-$2,600) for the EcoTechs to cover my tank is simply to much $, and I don't believe I would even get the same FULL coverage with those (cause they do seem to have a "two spot light kinda effect") as I do the 4 MH's. Thanks in advance for recommendations.

One 32 and one 24 is what I would run.

At 36" front to back means you will have to raise the light a considerable distance to get coverage over the entire 36". My tank is only 24" and my IT2080's have 90 degree lenses and I don't quite get full coverage due to the fact that my LR wall runs almost to the water surface at the back. You might want to consider 3 of the IT2060 (Photon24) and hang them sideways.

Yep... exactly what my formula would recommend.

If mounted side-by-side @ 7" apart with 90* optics...

6"+8" + 7" + 8" + 7" + 8"+6" = 50" x 36"

Not bad for an old dude working off the top of his head, eh? And you can tell I do a lot off the top of my head just by looking at it (no hair). :lmao:

OK, the only issue would be the brace that runs down the center (front to back) 3" wide so there is 27.5" width on each side of the center brace. Unfortunately it's not a full open top. (The 300G marineland DD has two of these) So there is two front to back rectangles 27.5" wide and 36" deep.

Can anyone measure their Photon24 please? I ordered 2 for my 4' tank and now I am worried that they won't fit :(

I have 3 center braces on my 8 ft. 24 inch wide, 20 inch deep tank and Logan recommended 2 Photon 32's with 120 optics. I am hoping the LED's penetrate through the braces.

Still wold like input considering the above mentioned brace that runs down the middle. Thanks.
I think I would still go with the (3) 24" fixtures. From other posts on this thread, a 3" brace shouldn't cause much issue as long as you can mount at the recommended height. With only 7" between each fixture (12" maximum), the side fixtures will more than make up for any light blockage by the brace. And, that middle fixture will spread about 20" side-to-side, so 3" isn't too big of a deal.
