Painting went well... x2 coats Kilz, x3 coats Rustoleum appliance epoxy (inside).

Refitted all the plumbing (Minus bringing it through the floor)... Please let me know if anything stands out...

I'm going to cut a hole in the floor to accommodate all 3 overflow pipes, I'll add a union for at least the main 1.5 overflow...

Lookin' good, Matt! I've got to pick up a Bubble Magus doser, those things make a big difference in stability, especially for our small(er) systems.
 
Everything looks awesome! I have a quick question - why the sump in the stand if you already have the sump in your basement?

Thx John, It's a little frag tank... I'm going to use the existing lighting (old setup) for under the stand... I have 2 retro fit 36in T5's and a 250MH... I'd love to use the MH, but I think its too much... I'll probably end up getting 2 more T5's...
 
A little fine tuning to do, but for the most part, I've very happy. We have a ton of extra live rock, so we may change the scaping around a little... Going to get my numbers stable for a little while and then get some real coral. :dance:

Looks very nice. I still have a few micro bubbles making the trip through my over-under-over baffles and I thought about making a baffle similar to this from 6" or 8" PVC to help trap bubbles from my return. How well does this work out for you?
 
Wow, so unique. That stand is phenomenal. Makes the tank look bigger than it actually is. Great work. I even like the position in the room with the paintings on either side. Really cool :thumbsup:

It's funny you saw that. I added it literally 5 minutes before I took and posted the picture. I had used a "Herbie" style overflow on my 150, so I wasn't anticipating all the air going through the DT overflow into the frag tank... I was pretty bent when I first ran water through it and saw/heard the bubbles. All I did was take (I'll have to check on the size) the PVC pipe and cut 8 slits, 2 inches long, 3 blades thick, with my chop saw. I was getting mad bubbles, which were foaming on the top of the water. I still get micro bubbles, which you can see in the picture; but I really don't care for the frag tank. They don't carry on through the sump into the DT. You may try tweaking it with shorter slits or holes. I'm also going to try pulling out the 1in x 3pm pipe link that brings it under the waters surface in the bubble trap.. Your talking about your sump? Do you use a filter sock?

For my application, I'm concerned it's going to be a food or other surface debris trap, so imaging to have to rethink it and do a little research.

Yes, it's for my sump. Good point on the debris trap. My thought was to actually drill holes near the bottom of the tube, I hadn't considered slits like you used. Maybe I can start with holes and convert them to slits if I need to. I am currently using a filter sock to minimize the bubbles that make it through the trap but I prefer not to. I think the flow rate through my sump is high enough that the bubbles just get sucked through the trap. I considered adding two more baffles but that would be a major project. There are a few other ideas I want to try before I get into that project.

Your setup looks great, very unique, artistic display.
