ReefKeeper Clarification

okay, so I just noticed a huge discrepancy on the DA website, and I think it has to do with the fact that they just released new firmware, but the RKL page has a Net option now, and it says that the RKL will work with any DA module. The manual, however, says otherwise.

Can anyone clarify which is correct? Thanks!

Yea it will allow it to use the Net module according to their forums. It will count as one of the four max modules.

The RKE on the other hand allows Hundreds of moules, so flecability alla round. You cna upgrade later if you wish and whatever modules you get with an RKL you can use with an RKE.

Well, it specifically says that it will not work with the SL2 in one place, but not the other, will it?

Thanks again

 Well put, Michael. :)

That's really cool, though. I didn't know they were changing it to work with the NET module. Sounds like I need to pay a visit to the forums. :)

On there main web page when you click into the announcement the picture they show also has a small sneak peak of 2.0 web portal. Does not reveal much, but nice to know there is something coming.

wait wait wait. the RKL works with the SL2??? Please reconfirm. I thought it did not and that was gonna make me save forever for the RKE.

Adrian, from the website itself, it seems that the RKL does support ALL modules now, including the net. The PDF documentation simply appears to not have been updated yet.

Super Sweet!!! and thanks for re-clarifying for me. I sometimes find it difficult to follow the back and forths and who responded to what in these threads.

Yes..the RKL will now work with ALL modules and functions (there will be a firmware update releaseing soon to add the Net), keeping in mind the 4 module limitation for the RKL is still a factor. Not a bad factor considering how inexpensive it is, but if you want the bells and whistles, really take a look at the RKE.

DA does indeed have a deficit when it comes to updating their documentation..too many new and cool things coming out. They announced another new system today, the Herpkeeper. It's for a vivarium, terrarium or paludarium (reptiles, frogs, insects, ect..) and does things like control humidity.

Back to to RK line, many cool things out the end of this year (maybe into early next year)...but they remained fairly tight lipped until it is out.

I'm just hoping they're able to release myReef this year as they had planned. I'm also hoping it doesn't require a NET module for full connectivity to a system, especially for RKLs. That would be crippling with the module count.

In the DA forum they commented the RKL comes with the USB interface which will also be needed to interact with the MyReef software. Based on that I hope for the opposite as well and you will be able to connect to it with the Net Module and not need a hard connection.

Sweet! I agree, though. I'm hoping it can use the NET module as my RKE with NET is not near a computer, but my RKL without NET is right next to my work computer. :)
