Trying to do a little pre-planning before I get my skimmer (should be next week) and i'm wondering what the distance is between the bottom of the box to where the 'T' on the drain is? I need to know if I need to build a little stand for the skimmer or not. I'm getting the 250.

Roughly 17" to the bottom of the T output. Sorry I didn't get back to you on the air reading. I guess you'll be able to test it soon though. :)

Thanks Aquaman! That should be just about perfect then. No worries on the air readings, just curious after someone had posted such a lower reading than advertised. After mine is up and running, i'll post my findings.

tgreene are those uniseals or bulkheads in the sump? and what size are they? I need to try and find some,I have a 250 coming in next week

I doubt it will be the same reading the Premium got.

You got that right!!! I am a little disappointed with my 250. I am only getting 60 SCFM big difference from the advertised 95.

I would assume then that Sequence got there marketed numbers before this was even put on a skimmer and the skimmer itself is the reason for the reduced numbers people are seeing?

for direct feed situtations

Has anyone tried a reverse durso on the input of the skimmer to reduce the air introduced into the body from the overflow? If so at what point did you plumb into the line. At the actual entry point or where the water level in the body of the skimmer will be?

Just a thought.

Hi guys. Just jumping into this great thread. Have read it all. I have just received my new Orca 250 for a new 180. Jumped from ASM on my other system. Does anyone know what the (approximate) maximum flow the unit will accept, plumbing the tank overflows directly to the skimmer? Are people using a standpipe on the overflow plumbing with the vent connected to your sump, or simply making sure your return pump is set to a lower volume than the skimmer will accept with gravity flow from both tank overflows. I ask because I am planning a duplex refug using about 3X the tank volume for flow through the refug. That would be about 600 to maybe 800 GPH.

hurleycr, do you have a drawing of what your talking about?

whatcha looking for exactly? a pic of the set up? or what the reverse durso is?

let me know and I will post something.

It works great on the overflow to the sump.

I went ahead and tried it on the skimmer but water shoots out the top. Would it work if I lowered it? Does anyone have any thoughts?

What the reverse durso is and the plumbing it would entail. Getting my 250 soon and would like to plumb it from an overflow, but would like to keep the bubbles entering the skimmer to a minimum.

1.5 inch bulkhead for the skimmer drain.

Does the water shoot out the top only when the skimmer pump is on, or does it not matter?

Haven't got that far yet.....

I turn on the main pump and once it starts to drain water shoots out the top......

I can't imagine why its shooting out like that.....

the reverse durson acts like a baffle and lets the air take the path of least resistance to escape before entering the sump.

I'm just want to see if it will work on my skimmer the same way.

I've been running it for months with just the straight feed, but i'm getting large bubbles into the skimmer body, and am looking for a way to vent it before it gets to the body.
