Reefyguy,

I think you're going to have difficulties adjusting the water height in the skimmer.

Is there any way you could drill your sump to accomodate the skimmer return?

reefartist, i love the idea of backlighting your skimmer so you can really see the gunk its pulling. truly oscar worthy.

The 250 would kick some serious butt on a nano. I'll have to look into it. ;-)

Seriously, I have no need for one of these now, but when I go big, this is the skimmer I want. I've got a PM Bullet XL on a 72G right now, so I do like overkill.

I cant move mine up any higher in the stand. The return tube is not perfectly level. I know it should be. Will this be a big deal?

It looks like you will be fine. It seems as if the top of the flexline is still below the crown of the body.

thanks Jraquatics
I also wanted to thank you for putting me in touch with the right person. We know who we are talking about. I bet he thought he was going to have to change his cell #

Putting salt in tomorrow morning.
It has passed my leak test....Will have reeflo 250 pics tomorrow.

Tagareef, looks like you have a durso on your intake before it drops into your skimmer. Did that eliminate most or all of the bubbles from going into your skimmer?

Medicine Man,

Not really a durso, but more like a settling chamber that gives the bubbles a chance to slow down, rise up and vent out thru a drilled cap at the very top. I also installed 3" pvc before the input of the skimmer. This provides enough "head" pressure to allow optimum flow thru the skimmer. The two 1" legs to the left and right of the feed pipe not only provide structural support to the contraption, but also act as the overflows for the excess water that isn't being processed by the skimmer. This system doesn't eliminate 100% of the bubbles, but does eliminate the large bubbles that do affect performance IMO.

I was able to raise the skimmer another half inch...
to get the skimmer neck on I have to lower the nylon screws all the way install the neck screw the nylons back up turn the head and tighten back down the screws.

here it is leaving the skimmer

Here it is at the highest point

still concerned but it is better. I cannot physically raise the skimmer anymore.

Can any of you tell me if the standpipe is necessary on the output if the skimmer is fed with a separate pump and outflow is controlled with a gate valve. If so, why?

Tagareef, if you could take some more detailed pics of your drain setup, that would be awesome.

My 250 should be here this week. :D

Anyone else have a temp gun? We had an interesting conversation the other night about the amazing heat that these darts are running at. Without a fan, I know the other 250 I've seen could barely be touched. Mine runs with a fan blowing across it, and it still runs at 153 degrees.

I'm concerned about how long these motors are going to last. The Dart as a whole has never been a "cool" motor, but I wonder how overboard they're being pushed.

Interesting.........is this affecting your water temp. at all?

I'm sure it impacts any tank they're installed on. That being said, I'm working with roughly 350-375 physical gallons, likely 200-250 water gallons (a decent amount of which is in the basement). So directly, no it does not have a major impact on my overall tank temps.

I'm more concerned about the lifespan (or lack there of) of any piece of hardware that runs this hot for an extended period, and isn't really made to do so.

Nice Set up Luis. Can we see a shot of the tank?

Hi Jeremy,

You've seen this tank before in another thread!
