Reeflo/Sequence Skimmer Club

I'm not concerned about the air. The air it's pulling is more then sufficient for the skimmer to perform as it should.

Order your tank yet? :D

Here is about 2 days worth. Really liking the skimmer. :)

On a side note, is it just me that cares that it is not pulling the advertised 2500+lph of air?

Do you have a Reeflo 250 on a 140gal?

They have something else plumbed into the mix and have an upgrade coming soon I believe.

Go get the Gmann from Kurt for the testing on Jamies tank.

It's on roughly 220 gal. system. (140 & 60 displays, roughly 20 in the sump) Large upgrade planned for early '09.

You may not see super performance out of this skimmer till 09. I am running a total of 200-215 gallons with a 180gal DT+ 75gal sump and skimmer. As my bioload increases and tank matures I am seeing an increase in performance with my Reeflo 200. My skimmate now is Black like tar and has a consistancy of honey. I like to skim dry especially when I think my skimmer is a little oversided for my bioload at this time.

Anyone know if its required to run more GPH to the skimmer when adding the larger neck cup? I currently gravity feed the skimmer and may have trouble adding more flow to it if its required. Right now my water line with the Dart turned off its ~flange level, maybe slightly higher

Can't wait to see it stocked reefyguy. ;)

Ben,
You don't have to change a thing except the water level when you get the Reef Specialty cup. I raised my water level to be right at the top of the flange.

My water runs around the top of the flange area now, so i should be ok then...i find that if i dont run a lot of water, i dont get much skimmate, of course my Ozone is the reason for some of that.

A quick question for you guys with Orca 250s. Since i haven't been able to see one in person yet around here. Does the feed water enter the skimmer at the re-circ pump or does it just dump into the base box? From what i can see its hard to tell if the water input is hard plumbed into the intake of the Dart or it is just a bulkhead going into the base of the skimmer.

Just a quick update. After running for a month or so, it no longer overflows with power up situations. There really is something to the break in theory.

I am pulling out nice, nasty, stuff... even though, I only have two fish in my 300 so far. Rocks must still be curing (nitrates are zero though).

ORP is 311 right now with the lights off and no ozone. We will see if it holds when I have, say, 20 fish.

The tips that Mike gave me on the upgraded cup helped a ton. Namely, to adjust the level so that you can see the bubbles in the neck just starting to transition to larger sizes about 1 cm from the top of the neck.

I was able to have zero nitrates in 3 weeks curing unwashed, raw, marco rocks. I think that primo skimming helped this process go faster.

So far, my experience with my first BIG skimmer has been great thanks to this thread!
