The dart gold, upgraded cup, upgraded neck, and bored out the air intake and holes in the lid. When I take a measurement, I put the dwyer on the air intake itself.

I would say so too, but looking at my Deltec AP702, it has 6 holes near that approximate size.
 
I think i need to test my watt meters against a known source...hard to believe my watts are at 124 with the AO motor.

gravity feed question

Ok, got my new reeflo today (thanks cweder), hooked it up to one side of my dual overflow via gravity feed, and openned the valve. My issue is that the gravity feed is not constant, seems to slightly increase and decrease, so the level in the cup can go up or down by an inch or 2 over the course of a 1/2 hour (overflowed into the collection cup once) - this unit has the gate valve mod on the outflow, so how are you supposed to keep the level constant with a gravity fed unit?

This may be important, I am in the process of upgrading my tank, and the current setup is only temporary and the flow down this side of the overflow currently is only about 200 GPH (I know I need more for the skimmer, so this might be part of the constant level issue?)

Well, i decided to remove the valve for good and will replace with a 1/4"mpt x 1/2" barb. I never use the valve part anyway!
 
The air valve? It's drilled for standard? If that's the case I'll do the same. I guess I just figured it was metric like everything else.
 
OK, is a watt a watt or what?

i tested my 2 watt meters today and both display ~ the same amps for 2 different devices(drill and skimmer) and on the drill them they show ~ the same watts as well, but when i ck the watts on the skimmer the watts are different. One shows ~155 and the other shows ~125 yet they have similar amp readings. Isnt amps x volts = watts ?? If this be the case my actual watts for the upgrade is ~155 then. :(
 
155 is way too high. You should be no higher than 145 especially since you are at sea level were you live. I would check to make sure you didn't tighten the impeller on too tight. You want it so that it just seats the seals. I think if you over tighten you will see more watts because of the drag from the seals, not for sure but seams to be from my experiences. Are you still running the AO Smith motor?
 
amen to that .. 155 is a bit on the high side.

As JR said .. check the impeller, where are you keeping the water level in the neck w/ the pump OFF.
You are still running the AO Smith, right? I wonder if that could be an issue.

I'm wondering if with the little bit of added head by running it a little higher than I am, if that is causing your venturi to pull less air, and in turn for the pump to draw more wattage.

For shiz&giggles, try turning the pump off, and adjust the water level to right around 1/4" BELOW the LOWER black flange.

When you plug it back in, see what your wattage draw is at that point, and even try with the air meter.
 
all depends on how much water you're flowing through ...
I have to use the wedge pipe to get my water level to there, if I leave the pipe open all the way, the water level drops to somewhere in the cone.
