Reefobsession 93 Cube Build!!!!

Thanks, Your tank is really nice as well. If I still lived in Evergreen Colorado, I would have come by your house and paid you to help build me a stand. My family and I will be coming up to Colorado in the spring. We will be skiing at Copper mountain. Love to snowboard.
I will get pics up in a bit. I should be getting my light soon. Once I recieve my tax return, I will have the green light. I spent to much on xmas this year. Drained my fish fund.

Tank is clearing up nicely. I did a 10 gallon water change, stirred up the sand to try and get some more of the dust out of there. I will get some pics up early this evening. I should be getting my tax return on Wednesday. Then I can buy my light!!! Everything is working great. Everything is running really well. Skimmer quieted down, and I started dosing MB7 last Tuesday with my doser.

Drop me a line when you are here if you have time.

Thanks, I will take you up on that. It depends how long we are in Denver for. If you ever come down to West Lafayette, IN haha drop me a line.

My home office is on Monument Circle in Indianapolis, I am out there a couple times a year, you are only a little more than an hour or so NW of there!!

Sweet. I could either meet you in Indy or you could meet me at my place!!
I am going to try and meet up with you when I come to Denver. How close are you to the Denver airport?
Also what company do you work for?

Here are some more pictures of my setup.
Water is still a little cloudy. It is kinda hard to see the tank without a light on it. I should be ordering a light on Wednesday and I should be able to get it on Friday and install it.

Here is a picture of the skimmer running. I still have alot of space in the back of the tank. I am going to have to figure out what to do with that space. Maybe an anemone?

If anyone would offer up some criticism on my rock structure, I will take it as constructive. Nothing personal. I realize that the vortechs are not level, so I need to level them out. I couldn't see them for the longest time because I was stirring up the sand and doing water changes to get some of the dust out.

Here is a picture of my drain into my sump. It is completely silent and takes away all the gurgling noise that I was getting before. I just drilled a 1/4" hole at the top and it lets the air escape up from the tunnel and the water exits out the bottom tube.

Thanks so much for that pic and explanation. I've been having trouble with my new setup and bubbles from my drain line running through my sump. I'm running a 3 baffle setup, but still have some bubbles getting past. This may be the solution that will fix it. Can't wait to build one up tonight and give it a try. It's amazing at times how the simplest solutions can elude me.

Thanks again!!!

Scott

Hey no problem at all. Just make sure to drill a 1/4" hole and to attach a small 1/4" tube, because the air bubbles cause some water to come out of the hole. It worked wonders for me.

Love your build! The aquascape is pretty sweet man. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks mml. I love your tank as well. I should be getting my lighting soon. I will probably place an order tomorrow evening.
Thanks for all the support everyone.

I ordered some netting to make a screen top for my tank. I am going to be collecting some rare wrasses and a blue spot jaw fish. So I am going to have allot of jumpers on hand.
I will post up the build of the screen. It is really simple and anyone can do it. I can provide some contact information for you to buy some of this nice clear netting.
All you need is a screen making kit that you can pick up from your local hardware store and some netting, and walla! You have a screen.

thanks for the link to this thread man. That drainage looks like a neat concept.

You're saying that you had the same gurgling noise up top and that hole drilled in the bottom quieted everything down?

It help with the gurgling, but what really stopped it was slowing down the return pump. If the tank had two drain holes that would help.

Looking good! I cant wait to see this tank grow out. :D

Hey thanks sonny. It means a lot really. I was this close to buying a 120 rimless similar to yours, but I decided to go with the 93 cube. What sold me was my tank and stand fit in my car at the same time haha jk.

Your tank was an inspiration to me, that is why I am starting up with 2 weeks of MB7 and dosing vodka/MB7 daily. When I start getting some SPS, I will be coming up to your place to get some frags if that is all right with you.

I hope to have half as nice of a tank you have.

Well got my first fish. All levels are stable after a month.
It is a lubbock's fairy wrasse. I have always loved this fish and got a good deal on it for $30.

Colors are a little faded due to stress. Love this fish, I feel that it is a good start. They had a red velvet wrasse and a Hawaiian xmas wrasse that were both stunning. I might have to make a trip back this weekend. lol.
I am waiting to get some clowns from Doni.
Thanks for looking
