You know it's hard to say weather we'll want to do this again.
Putting on a show is a ton of work and you deserve credit for the work you put into it. I was planning to go then had to work at the last minute, but from what I've heard and from reading here it sounds like overall things went ok despite some snags. There's always room for improving the next one, maybe give some time for the dust to settle and then think about plans for another one.
We really thought we'd give you guys something fun and good, obviously there is a lot of tension in Denver and tension between the RMRC and SCMAS.
I have not lived in Colorado long so I don't know all the history, but I just don't get this whole "tension" thing. I hope the idea does not continue to get perpetuated because I'd like to think for any of the clubs in the area the ultimate goal is to provide something of value to all the reefers in the area, no matter who provides it.
(For the record I'm an RMRC board member but this is my personal opinion here and I'm not speaking on behalf of the board or the club.)
The DARC folks and the RMRC folks had a lot of good discussion a while back and from what I saw it basically came down to different philosphies about how a club could/should be run. The two clubs take different approaches and fill different needs depending on what people are looking for in a club, and some people participate in both of them. I don't see anything wrong with that and I don't see that as "tension".
As far as tension between SCMAS and RMRC, I don't really know anything about the history so I don't know where that comes from. SCMAS folks come to RMRC events and post here and at rmrc.info and we appreciate their participation, and I think the reverse is also true. I do know that RMRC has approached SCMAS a couple times lately about doing things and has been told something to the effect of "our bylaws don't allow us to associate with other clubs and that's why we can't plan stuff together". But then I see SCMAS and DARC collaborating on ReefStock, and now planning a joint DARC/SCMAS frag swap for April, so I don't know what to make of that.
As far as I'm concerned, the more events that happen in the area the better, no matter who puts them on. If the clubs can work together and that helps to make things happen or share speaker/venue costs or whatever, even better, but in any case area reefers get something of value out of it.
