Reeftopia- TERRIBLE Customer Service

Just got my Reeftopia order and I can honestly say I'm done with mail order. This is the 2nd time I've ordered livestock online and I'm sick of it. Both times(1st was Atlantis) I did not get a confirmation email saying that my hundreds of dollars in livestock is on its way.

So I open the box and all the snails are extremely tiny. Thats fine. I expected that. Next was the dwarf sea horses that are supposed to be 1"-1 1/4". Not a bad size to accommodate. That would all be fine if they were anywhere near that 1" mark, but sadly, that is not the case. The biggest one is a whopping 1/2". :eek1:

O.K. So I give them a call. That didn't go so well.... I can't even complete a sentence without being interrupted by this lady. She even hung up on me... And I didn't even swear! She went on and on how the 1/2" ones are their average. I asked why the website said, "approx 1 to 1.25 Inches". She said they can get up to that size, but this was their average collected size. sniff, sniff... B.S.

1"-1 1/4" sea horses aren't so bad, but I don't have time for these little things.... You'll probably see a post soon... dwarf sea horses for sale!
 
I called to to see if there was any way to exchange/return/credit/ anything, but she just left at that that was their typical size and nothing was wrong. I kept on trying to get her to understand the importance of the size discrepancy with feeding and care, but she just kept interrupting me and leaving it at the "typical size". After I asked her to stop interrupting me, she got out of control, saying that she doesn't have to take this and hung up on me... Take what? Questions from a customer? I didn't swear, I didn't call names and I didn't down-grade anyone.

Is there anything I can do, aside from contacting the better business bureau?
 
LoL, Buy EVERYTHING you could possibly need to maintain them, new tank, new lighting, solaris, brine growing, etc.


make sure its all under 5k. then take them to small claims and say you couldnt let them die but the woman gave you no alternatives and your an animal lover :)

You could drive on over there and give her a piece of your mind.....
 
dude i would call her and be like im contacting the BBB and Lisa Madigan Illnois attorney general...claim that you did not get what you paid for and that they are false advertising. make sure you speak with a manager though, and explain that the lady was rude and hung up on you. Also explain that you have a big mouth and are a frequent poster on ReefCentral and that you are very disatified with their service. Be polite but firm. I bet you they change their answer....if not i guess from now on BUYER BEWARE...
 
I'm gonna be in there neck of the woods for the next two weeks. They are not open to the public (already asked).

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with them. Every experience i've ever had with reeftopia has been great. Well except for the hermits i ordered but for the price that we were paying i really couldn't complain and they are all doing well to this day. Try calling again asking to speak to someone else maybe that will get you somewhere??
 
Do they have a forum on RC? If so post it up. If not I would call back and try and talk to someone a bit more important then that lady.
 
Thats too bad that they are like that. I have ordered twice from them. One of the times I had to return something and they were very nice about it and sent out a replacement before receiving their package from me. I also talked to a lady, but mine was friendly. Good luck :)
