I got one word for any algae issues....
Chitons!
They will literally eat everything, and anything on your rocks. Including bubble algae, GHA, bryposis, hydriods, coralline, and turf algae. They will eat everything, taking your rock back down to pristine white rock.
I was going to try real hard and make it to RAP this year(would love to have a beer with you and soul among a few others), but my moms not doing well and in the hospital, big wedding that weekend, and other things that are limiting my available "party" funds.
If it gets worse before it gets better, I might try it out. If anything, maybe it'll eat the coralline off my glass. I've let the two side windows fill entirely with coralline since the corals were growing into one side, and the other side had the frag rack.
Hope your mom gets well soon, and go figure another big wedding/event that weekend. We'll catch you... eventually
I'm not a big fan of crabs either but was planning to get an emerald if I had GHA growth like in my previous 60g cube, other's have said just one emerald and only after GHA starts or else they'll eat other things in tank... what don't u like about hermits, thought they were a good part of CUC? just ordered 3 red legged hermits for my CUC. R u not a fan b/c they're hard to catch and remove?
in my 60g cube I had a Kole Tang but it never ate the bubble algae...
You can keep tangs short term in any size, but long term is the issue. At least a 60g is a decent sized tank (particularly in cube size), and Kole tangs are Ctenochaetus family and not open water swimmers like the Zebrasoma and Paracanthurus schooling tang families.
I don't like crabs in general because they're omnivorous. When you are trying to keep nutrients down by feeding less, you have a lot less to worry about when none of your inhabitants will eat corals and/or other inhabitants. Also, there's a lot of crap sold in the hobby as something else (including in snails, where there are some bad hombre snails), and often people will order this or that reef safe crab, and end up with the big grey furry ones that are definitely omnivorous and frequently will eat other inhabitants. Also, just like cleaner shrimps, hungry crabs will go to a coral that was just fed, and rip the side of the coral open to take the food out of its mouth. No bueno.
when I had GHA in my 60g cube, I turned off the lights for a week and they all went away. After talking to people learned my old T5 bulbs were the culprit...could ur GHA growth be from old bulbs, otherwise u can try reducing hrs of light but prob not good idea with all your corals.
I have LEDs. I'm sure they're aging, but I don't think it's a spectrum issue (though it could be! never say never!) since LEDs shouldn't change spectra that easily.

If you order some get me a couple as well and bring to RAP for me!!!
I'd be down to split some. Lord knows I wouldn't miss any algae from anywhere. Should I be so lucky to have a nice coralline algae muncher!
