Regal Angel Primer

Yeah, found that too, but it's not a practical test and the not that "exporting countries should export all of their fish in synthetic seawater as natural seawater can have detectable levels of thiocyanate in it leading to false positives with this testing protocol" basically makes it a useless test.

Sorry to hear of another regal passing. No symptoms, just up and died in QT? Using any meds. that might have contributed to his death?

Thanks. Yeah, it was a bummer. No symptoms either. He looked good and was swimming and eating well with different food types. No meds in the tank, just a bare bottom QT (Cycled) with some rock, a heater, a couple powerheads, and a couple PVC tubes. Tested water parameters regularly and everything remained solid.

I saw that one. I would watch out for flukes or ich as it was doing some head shaking.

I still have 5 out of 7 I bought there, and the first I lost was a super tiny one on which I skipped the formalin dip (I wouldn't do that ever again). So chances are not too bad.

BTW, they just sold a tiny Philippine regal and still had a small juvenile last Saturday. Was that still around today?

I saw a really small one there for 50 is that the one?

Yes (the first in the video), but they had one that was even smaller (the second in the video):

I took this video when I was there a week ago.

That small one is gone. The way I see it if they don't survive a ttm they won't survive my tank. Got way too much money invested in fishes to have it bring diseases into my tank.

You don't have to use the TTM...

Especially on these very delicate fish.

I've used TTM on a range of fish, including my OSFF pair, typically considered one of the more delicate fish, without issue.

They've all tolerated very well. A quiet place and dim lights go a long way to helping keep stress low.

Regals are not really delicate, the last regal I sold to Minh spent months in a friends overflow because one of his Tangs kept chasing it in there. He probably lived in five different tanks before Minh got him. I worry more about collection practices, they seem to be the issue with these and all Angels.
