Regal Angel Primer

Bought mine from NYAquatic last month, Michael described it was a 3" Red Sea Regal. It came in at at least 4" but it was nice and fat.
Took almost 2 weeks for it to come out and nibble at the rocks and gravel plus another two weeks to get used to seeing me and another week to start eating with the rest of the fish.
Mind you, I do not have any aggressive fish in my tank, just a pair of Lineatus wrasse and a marine Betta at the time the Regal went in.
No doubt this fish would have perished in a bare QT tank where he couldn't nibble at the rocks, algae and on the gravel.

You could've just put some live rock in ur QT.... The reason for QT is to get them
Eating without competition from the quicker wrasses. So in reality ur regal made it despite u putting him in your display not because of it.

What type of coral do most of you guys see ur regal angels eating? Is it zoos, etc.? I'm thinking of culturing something for supplemental feeding and variety. Any ideas on what would make an easy growing and readily accepted coral?

Hi everyone,
This thread has really helped me to decide that I was ready to try a regal, so thank you! :)
Here's my baby.

He is a red sea regal from a local LFS. He spent the first few weeks in QT and was just put into the DT on Monday. He is pretty social, although he still gets startled easily and runs and hides.

He is eating what ever I feed to the tank, but not as much as I think he will need long term. He is just not as fast and greedy as the other fish. I'm hoping that this will change over the next couple of weeks as he becomes more comfortable. Does this seem to be the experience of most of you that have regals?

Mine eats mysis and forumula two small pellets only and does shy away from the crowd but is getting use to them slowly . But yes they are some times shy when eating . I have many fish larger then mine some two times his size and they are tangs

My Baby Regal is fully integrated to the tank at this time. Here he is playing with the big boys.
My other Regal in a 30 reef with two clowns is not doing well, he is not eating, not picking at the rock, sponges that I got from the sump/refugium, or the Zoas rock that I got at the LFS to see if he eat that.

The CBB still very small I had him for 2 months and the Regal for only 3-4 weeks.
I tried two more Regal since I got him but it did not go well both case. One dead and one is about to. Neither start to eat.
I think I am going to be happy just have one Regal and one CBB in my tank.

Had my eye on a DD Red Sea Regal tonight. Went for $499 in about 60 seconds. I did snag a fat looking CBB.

I know my conditions and husbandry is good in my 330 DT. I have a several difficult to keep fish including a vermiculated leopard wrasse. I hope to get a regal soon but I have no LFS within 3 hrs so I will keep an eye on DD.

My first specialty fish, a Regal Angelfish.
Eating Flake, Mysis, Brine, Nori and Black worms one week into QT.
A$85
