Regal Angel Primer

Took pictures of my two Regal Angels today. The Blue/Grey chest is misbared while the larger yellow chest is still in my refugium.

Never you mind all the algae in my refugium. I occasionally take a rock full of algae and put it into my DT and the tangs and fox face clean it up in a day or two.

This is how my mis-bar changed over 2 years. It was not easy for me to tell that I have a significant mis-barred until I have a normal Regal to compare with, and until I have clear picture to look at. I am happy that I have such a attractive mis-bar Regal angel (IMO). The Yellow Belly RA is doing really well in my frag tank. I think I will trap him and get him to the DT next weekend.

Very Nice!

Well Minh you are not going to believe this one, I spoke with my LFS and was told he could get 2 to 3" regals orange belly south Asia. I said sure go for it, and while your at it get me an adult sm/med blueface. Well they came in on Friday (whats wrong with this picture)

Blueface 3" and a real fat regal 4". DOH!
I will try to add the Regal to my other two, if not someone will get a nice regal in our fish club.

That regal is fat! Never saw an adult BF that small. I like him!

I want him or another of your regal if they don't work out for you. I am getting a lot of second hand fish from you.
As you can see, the Regal I got from you is doing good. He really like nori and flakes, no mysis for him now. He would not touch it.

lol, it just isn't fair coming to this thread all the time!

Two of the most prized fish I want... the Red Sea Regal and the Blue Face...

All that I need next is to see that someone has a Golden Butterfly and I will just lose it, lol :)

Did you actually measure them or are those sizes just a guess?
4 inch wouldn't be too bad, but to me that one looks bigger judging by how wide he is.

THRoewer I held up a ruler and guessed while they were in the bucket. Measuring the bucket this morning it is 11 1/2", I think it is the fact the Blueface is so small it makes the regal look larger than 4". They are both in a 40 breeder full of algae and copods. Neither has eaten that I have seen. They went thru my normal routine of acclimation for an hour, 1 1/2 hours in a Prazi Pro Dip, and then 20 minutes of a freshwater dip and then into normal tank water in a bucket where I took the picture. If they were to show signs of something else I will remove them and place them in a sterile tank with pvc and more meds. Since I started this routine I have never had to do anything else. Observing both fish while in the bucket and now in the tank, the blueface hides all the time which meant he was hard to catch, while the regal is not afraid of me and I believe he just swam up to the diver to be caught. Minh if this guy doesn't work out you have first dibs, but FYI he is South Asia Orange Belly not Redsea.

I have an LFS that I check with every Wednesday, this time Quality Marine had three sml/med on the list. If you saw the one on DD on Friday it was probably his twin since LA gets first choice on QM fish.

Lets have a poll on how long we have keep our current Regal angel.
I start first
Pacific Blue Chest Regal: 2 years
Red Sea Yellow Chest Regal 2 months

Do you switch them from container to container, or?

Isn't that stressful?

Plastic container from acclimation to prazi pro, Plastic container from prazi pro to FW dip, pick up by hand from FW dip to new tank water, and yes separate buckets. Rinse out well between exercises. The freshwater water dip is the most stress full but I have not lost one yet, and one of my regals was really stressed so I shortened to 10 min. One lasted 20+, I think I could have fed him and had him eat while he was there. I hate nets, so only as a last resort.

I was going to ask about the Freshwater dip... 20 mins seems long to me. Do you match ph, seems like that would be a PITA if you are. I do everything you do except the freshwater dip. I use formalin in a bath for 45mins instead but want to try your method
