Regal Angel Primer

I would never put a fish more in the sump for more than 1 day or two. Refugium, yes maybe. But the sump has too much equipment that can kill your fish. And also the stress for the fish from all the pump noise and drain noise.
Like I said before, if you don't have the necessary holding tank for a regal angel, don't even bother. Just use an acclimation box if there's already other fish in the tank or just put it in the tank and feed it well. A good holding tank for a regal is something like a FOWLR tank with no fish.
I was 2 out of 2 dead when trying to qt a regal in a 20gallon. I'm 3 out of 3 alive and doing well when I just put them in the display using an acclimation box to train it to eat.

All my quarantine tanks have some seeded Real Reef live rock in it.
Only one of the regals I quarantined died, an that was a tiny one whom I didn't give a formalin bath., I lost 2 of the ones I didn't quarantine.
Not quarantineing may be beneficial in the beginning, but can come to haunt you later on.

I can't put mine in the display because it's only on week 4 of being fallow. I think I'm going to add a small amount of cured rock for him to pick at.

If he eats he will be fine even in a barren tank. My 2 smallest were quarantined/treated like that and did fine.

No, though you will have to sterilise the QT so that the fish can't get reinfected should he have something like Brooklynella or Uronema.
Flukes, ich, velvet are not much affected by short term formalin exposure.

My lfs has a beautiful 1.5 inch purple tang. Would it be a bad idea to try to add him to my 29 gallon qt with the regal? The regal is eating lightly and looks healthy. I know the clock would reset after adding the tang but that is not a problem as my dt is still going through its fallow period.

By your DT going fallow - suggests you had problems before with QTing your fish.

I would not put a Purple Tang and a Regal in a 29 - especially since the QT time will start all over again.

Unfortunately and strangely, the new female currently in the acclimation box has stopped eating since I posted the video. Took a few pecks at fresh oyster but after that, it refuses to eat anything I put in the tank. It seems to be really interested in these tiny tiny little pieces of crumbs on the bottom of the box when I feed LRS reef frenzy(and only the reef frenzy seem to have this in it). This will not be enough to sustain such a fish and it will need to eat substantially more. The fish is alert but just more finicky than the last two I acclimated.

The new female regal is still in its acclimation box. This one is really finicky and only pecks at a few bites. It's strange because some moment, it'll bite on the food and swallow it. Other times, it'll just look at it.
I'm afraid to take it out of the box because it's not anywhere near aggressive feeder and will get left out during feeding time. I'll keep it in the box for another week. It has been 8 days now.

What have you ALL tried?

Fresh Oysters?

Fresh Mussels?

Fresh Squid?

I've have had it for about 7-8 months he eats everything. It's an Indo great fish always wants to eat. It hangs out with my yellow tang and the sleep in the same spot.
