Thanks. I hear CS is much more gentle on the fish than copper but I can't get hold of it. The only copper based med I have is Cupramine and lately there have been a lot of fish deaths linked to Cupramine, so I am a bit concerned. I would also not like to add ich to my system since I have some sensitive fish such as a beautiful adult Powder Blue Tang. Not too worried about aggression because the PBT is actually very shy and has a much harder time eating pellets than what I witnessed today with the Regal. I also can easily section off a part of my tank so they become accustomed to each other.

I like copper because I worry about velvet as well.

Regal Angel Primer

How is everyone's luck with those regals from LA? Thinking about pulling the trigger but worried since my prior experience with LA wasn't great, both fish had velvet and I didn't catch it quick enough.

The little Maldives Regal I got from one of the LA sales didn't cause any problems in QT. He caught ich from another fish, but hyposalinity treatment fixed that easily enough.
Also no feeding problems - he was digging into mysis from day one and quickly adapted to dry foods as well. Now I have him in my 40B sump tank.

Juvies are more valuable to me when it comes with angelfish. You can get them to feed easier and possibly likely to not eat your corals.

+1...For that price I can probably get at least 4 or 5 locally!...I rarely check out DD fish anymore

Would they all be maldives juvies though? Not disagreeing with you, 280 is too much, but I think anywhere from 150-200 is reasonable. I don't think you can get a better price on the orange bellied ones. I'm hoping I'm wrong though, and if I am please send me a PM

There are a couple LFSs that sell YB Regals (non Red Sea) for ~$75, I think Michael at NY Aquatics (25 minutes from my home) also sells YB Regals for that price range.

I think that these stores usually only get 1 or 2 juvi Regals at a time (I've had 1 for ~9 months...doing great, but slow grower) and not sure, but I think it was less than $50...

The only part of the $280 that is high is the fact that LA had them on sale this weekend with the discount for like $125 maybe? Once again though you are paying for the 14 day insurance with DD and the fact they are eating, where as all other vendors give no warranty with Regals. Last week I bought a juvenile Sumatra Blueface from DD for $89, the second day it was eating like a pig. But I guess BF are great shippers, Regals are not. Here in San Antonio, Regals go for $80, Yellow Belly go for $150, Red Sea $250+. One last thing with LA and DD after $149 it is free shipping. I have paid as much as $80 more for shipping depending on the size of the fish.
Back to the Regals, I have had 3 of the 4 Juvenile regals live that came from either LA or Quality Marine through my LFS.

I got my Red Sea regal from live aquaria in October. I just added it to the display tank this week. Absolutely beautiful fish. If you are looking for a specific region or size sign up for the email alerts. That's probably the only way you will nab a Red Sea regal from them.
