releasing non native fish back in the reef

How do you know? Did you do scraping of the animal and have them examined by a pathologist? Did you look at the feces for signs of intestinal worm infestations?

Just let the fish die don't think of the one fish think of the thousands you will save (possibly) by doing the right thing and sacrificing the one.

if it's not eating and doing well in captivity, there's a good
possibility of disease. it sounds like your also mixing pacific and
atlantic species together, so there's a good possibility your
introducing non native bugs and viruses into your already
hurting natural reef systems. if you don't want to see a fish
suffer, slam it against a wall or freeze it. the first is a quick end
and the second makes'em go to sleep before the end.

if you need a useful crusade, rile against cyanide...

Just a point about fish ailments, while avirus or parasite or bacteria might only bother one fish slightly it can kill other species in a matter of days.

Yes, I already agree as I mention earlier with my friend from HAWAII.

But Its normal for some fishes to go on Hunger Strike. If you read literatures they do this without any reason and I read in an article saying puting your fish in a freezer while they are alive is not a good idea. They said fish do feel the pain and they dont recommend this method.

Found a book called MARINE LIFE OF THE PHILIPPINES by allen/steene. Annularis is 100% NATIVE. For the French honestly, I think they are too the book is has to be updated. THere have been some areas sited. How do you post images so I could share some sittings taken by fun divers. I try to look for the images in my file.

just because you may have some swimming in the waters there, doesn't make them native. other's obviously came before you to screw up the wildlife just like here. we have your butterflies, angels, tangs, and lionfish outcompeting native wildlife.
and your skipping over the whole 'hidden' disease issue.
but whatever, this is bordering on trolling IMO, and i'm done talking to deaf ears.

here's some images taken locally of things that have no business being here for others that may care;

This is so sad. Purple loosestrife was originally released as a good thing and now has cost us lots of indigenous plants and animals across North America.

I cannot fathon how someone with a claimed 20+ years of experience can question if French Angelfish are really naturally found in the Philippines.

One of the theories he proposed was that dive operations may have intentionally introduced them as they are slowing moving yet gorgeous fish that could become quite an attraction at dive sites. Here we have someone releasing exotic fishes at a resort as an attraction. That makes Dr. Goldstein's theory that much more plausible in my opinion.
This may be a factor, but it's also known that at least 6 lions were released into Biscayne Bay by Hurricane Andrew.

Could you give some more information about this?

It's briefly mentioned here: http://www.oceanservice.noaa.gov/education/stories/lionfish/factsheet.html

Here is the original source though:
Courtenay, W.R., Jr. 1995. Marine fish introductions in southeastern Florida. Newsletter of the Introduced Fish Section, American Fisheries Society 14(1):2-3.

Basically there was a beachfront house that was swamped in the storm and the aquarium broke, releasing the fish. Shortly after the storm divers started reporting lionfish sightings in the area.

I think this Mike guy is just trying to stir the pot. If he really thinks that it's okay to release one fish into the wild to save that one fish and possibly disturb the ecosystem of that area then there is nothing anyone can say to change his mind. there are countless reports and studies done on this subject that PROVE without a shadow of a doubt that this practice is absolutley detrimental no matter what your intentions are. Give your head a shake Mike and get with the program.

hard to tell, I did notice he deleted his "little red house" link

guess part of this offer is gone
