Rembee's 90 gal. slow build....

I'm really impressed with the build. I have been wanting to build a 90 gal stand for several years and this has really inspired me. I've got so many plans and ideas already, still in the design phase and really want to have my build as well thought out as possible like you did.
One thing that I saw that I like was your drilled overflow. Did you just make that out of acrylic or buy it? Also, the ATS design, does it splash a lot of water within the cabinet?Does all that light from the ATS and refugium heat the DT much?

Your craftsmanship is amazing! I like the aquascape you have going on in there as well. I would recommend that you get rid of those yellow tail damsels, they can be really nasty when they settle in and trying to catch them in your DT will be HELL. I agree with the above reccommendation for chromis.

I think you should take the yellow tails back and get some chromis. At some point you are going to want to get nice looking peaceful fish and the yellow tails will reak havoc on them.

First of all, thanks for the kind words you guy's.

Now you guy's having me really thinking about getting rid of the yellowtails...lol. I thought they were the most peaceful and domicile out of all the damsels! (so I have read)

What do you guy's think about a Coral Beauty Angel fish?

Brian, I'm glad I have inspired you. The best advise I can give you is to research and write idea's down, so you don't forget them. Then incorporate those idea's into the build and be ready to improvise. And by all mean, measure 4 times and cut once....lol. I had planned this build for over 4 years.

The overflow is a kit from Glass-Holes.com.
The ATS does not splash at all. The water just cascades down the mat very peacefully. It's not even noisy. As for the lights, no, they don't heat up the DT at all. It actually cools as the water flows downward. I live near the Gulf Coast and it has been 100 or more degs here the past couple of weeks. My tank stays between 78 and 79 degs. My heaters even kick on during the day sometimes....lol.

Nicely done! Look forward to seeing fish and corals added. BTW, I also say get rid of those damsels. I had them in my 56 gallon reef and they were a pain to get out when I wanted to get rid of them. I am not putting a single one in my new 75 gal reef. The chromis are great fish especially if you get a nice amount that will allow them to school. Good luck with your tank!

Thanks Wavemaker. As much as I hate to take the lil guys back, I think I'll take them back tomorrow and get 3 Chromis so they can shoal around the reef.

Well......I took the Yellow Tails back yesterday and picked up 2 Pajama Cardinals. They are now in my QT where they will stay for the next 4 weeks. I think I'm on the right track now.
Yesterday also made a month that my system has been up and running. Last night I also tested my water parameters and everything looks good....

PSU/S.G. - 33/1.025
Temp - 78.3
Amm - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
Calc - 430
Phos - 0.03
Alka - 142
PH - 8.19

I'm still waiting on my Mag. test kit to come in.

Ok Wavemaker, here are some pics of my QT and my new Pajama Cardinals.

I finally got my doors in yesterday from the Local Cabinet Shop for my stand. There solid maple doors and they really did a great job on them! I wish I would have had the time to build them myself but it was nice letting someone else do all the work.....lol. Today I installed the hinges on all 4 doors which I will be taking off so I can start to apply the stain. I also clued up the scroll work on the 2 front doors today. Here some pics of them and also some updated pics of my DT.

This is some Flame Algae that I bought from Reef Cleaners. It's been in my DT for a week now and it's already starting to grow.

I hope to have the doors all finished and installed on the stand with-in the next 2 weeks.
