Removing dead corraline?

Hello
We moved our Marineland 75 gallon and the coralline algae growing on the black plastic overflow cover turned white because it dried. Is there a way to remove this white stuff? Normally I would use a razor on the glass, but this is the plastic overflow box. I tried using a new plastic spackle knife but it didn't do anything.

If it's an empty tank, dabbing it with paper towels soaked with white vinegar can loosen it up quite a bit. If it's full, I'd say it's a waiting game; it can fall off on its own.

New coraline will usually grow over it first.

This or citric acid can help.
