Renton's Upgrade

I would suggest doing a lot of research on the Orange Spot Filefish before getting one. Specifically look up the various methods people have used to get the fish to start eating food.

My Orange Spot Filefish eats Sustainable Aquatics Dry Hatchery Diet Pellets (the tiny ones), spirulina enriched brine and mysis.

She does nip at SPS polyps but it does not seem to harm growth or coloration of the coral. Polyps do not come out during the day, but do at night when she is sleeping.

Nice! I have cheap corals in my tank. I just hope it won't eat faster than the growth rate of sps.

If you do not get it weened onto frozen food /pellets I do not think the fish will live that long. No matter how much coral you have. So, it is important to be ready to really work with the fish and offer it various foods.

Some people would even smoosh food onto old acropora skeletons to try and get the fish to pick at it in a more natural manner.
