Renton's Upgrade

The Blonde Naso tang really enjoys the much higher tank vs his old confines. Lots of swimming up and down and doing laps back and forth

I built another arch and added a bit more rockwork to give the fish more hiding spots. I took this pictures in the middle of cleaning the glass, please excuse the dirt and grime.

Please excuse the mess, I just finished moving a bunch of corals into the new tank and took the video before cleaning up. King Achilles also made the move today!

I had my first real "Oh, no!" moment. I dipped all of the corals coming out of the old system before they went into the new system. I dipped my DFS Pink Panther little colony for just a couple minutes like all of the other coral. Except when I removed it from the dip it really smelled bad......and totally lost all of its color :( . Hope it pops back in a couple weeks.

My wife had a hair appointment last night and it could not have come at a better time. I had ordered some aquarium room wall decals and they arrived yesterday and I was able to put them up while my wife was gone.....I may have gone a little overboard.

My wife came home while I was in the middle of putting up the Kraken decals, I caught her taking a video of it all. I think she sent it to her friends to show them how awesome her husband is.

The Yellow Tail Tamarin was the last fish to make the transfer

Slowly but surly I am transferring components from the old system to the new system. Over the past few days I got the apex setup, dosing pumps, auto water change, 2xtunze controlled via apex, kalk dosing and carbon reactor. Trying to manage the wires and tubes is quite a bit of work. I will get the Alkatronic running in the next couple of days.

Also added a light to the refugium.

Nathan, awesome looking set up! Few questions, are you replacing your skimmer and if so, to what? Do you have your Orpheks angled to help prevent any light spill? I’m setting up Orpheks on my tank when I move and I really like your canopy idea, I’m going to steal it if you don’t mind. I might hit you up for some up close pictures.

Thanks corey

Thanks! I don't think I am going to replace the skimmer. I have a AquaMaxx ConeS CO-6 and its rated up to 500 gallons under heavy bio load. So far its really doing a great job. So we will see how that goes.

I originally had my Orpheks angles just to hit the front of the corals a bit more but then I hung them differently by the rails so there is no angle to them. I have hung them very high and I get a bit of light spillage (otherwise there would be no spillage) in front of the tank but it does not bother me. I have dark tile floors so that cuts down on even noticing the spill over or reflection.

Do the floating canopy, I love mine. It is so nice putting the power supplies up there out of the way.

Also let me know if you want links to the hardware I used to bolt them in. I think each bolt I used can hold like 1,000lbs, lol.

Very nice! Now that the rock has darkened up it looks a lot more natural I think. Are most of the corals growing and/or coloring up well?
