Can I order a new propellar (internal half)? One of my Vortechs lost the backing off of the internal half, and I can see all of the insides

Thanks,
Nathan

Hi Nathan,

No problem. Email us at sales@ecotechmarine.com with a more detailed description of what parts you're looking for. Perhaps refer to the exploded view of the pump in your instruction manual to be sure you are describing the correct parts.

Thanks for letting me know what's going on, and I'm sorry to hear you're leaving the hobby!

Follow up... Vortech's are doing great... Actually sold the one with the orange back, since I realized that one was more than enough

Later,

I now have the Vortech pump from Nathan and I can't get it to work.
I received it a few days ago. I have followed the instructions.
The power is on but the propeller turns slowly, then stops. I am not very happy about this. Any help would be great.
Thanks,

Hi Saj,

I really hope that this can be resolved, because I know that you will love the Vortech... I know the pump works, but if you do not want to go through with the whole process of finding out what the glitch is, then I will totally understand... I can take it back if you need me to... Also, we can see what Tim thinks, and get it fixed... It is going to be hard to figure a few things out, since the pump worked before I packed it up, but I am sure that we can get it figured out

The suspect pump send to Icecap 9B South Gold Drive Hamilton NJ 08691. We will inspect the pump and take care of any required repairs.

Tim,

I have no idea what the problem is on this pump, but it seems that Saj is unhappy with it... I found no problems when I ran it, but as I told him, I only ran it for about 4 hours... I am going to pay for it to be shipped to you, and cover the repairs... The pump is only 1 year old, so I hope that you can go easy on me... I do want to mention that Saj's glass tank is 1" thick... Mine is only 1/2" thick, so this may contribute to the different results we have gotten

Thanks,
Nathan Smith

That may well be the problem. The max thickness to be used is 3/4 inches. On a 1 inch thick glass, the magnetic strength will be extremely weak and may cause the 2 parts to separate. Just not enough clamping force. That explains why the prop is rotating very slowly.

The pump is simply not compatible on a 1" thick aquarium and unfortunately here is nothing that can be done about this, as it is simply the limitation of our product at this time.

Sorry guys :(

My mistake. I was incorrect. Tank glass is 1/2 inch thick. It's a oceanic 215. The magnet holds very well. The wet side magnet seem to be coming apart. When it start to work it releases rust colored powder.
Thanks,
