Rhizotrochus: why so expensive?

wow you lucky dog. If i am correct they eat meaty foods, like shrimp, krill, and pellets.
The place I got mine at just sold their last two that had color.I was a bit off (been a couple years now since I have imported). It's roughly (after fees/taxes/surcharges) $4 a kilo from PI, Indo and Bali. Depending on how much you bring in, you can get AU in at around $4-5 a kilo. The cheapest my source brings in is Sri Lanka. He brings it in after all fees/surcharges/etc are paid for about $3.75 a kilo.
It's all about how much you bring in. Under 250 kilos you don't get any brakes. But if you can fill a "can" you can get pretty good prices.
For a LFS that is transhipping, the prices the posted by the first guy are actuall fairly inline (after all fees, including re-ox, re-bag, etc).
6-7 a kilo is still cheap when you consider it costs like 15-30 a kilo for a 200lb person to fly from CA to any of those destinations

I love reading these type of threads about "rare" corals, because it's really interesting to know what is "common" and what is "rare" in different parts of the world.
These corals are fairly common here in Japan to the extent where most well-stocked speciality marine livestock stores tend to have one in stock fairly often. I'm not sure how cheap corals are in other parts of the world, but these definitely are not on the expensive side of the spectrum here.
But on the flipside, there's plenty of things we don't seem to get here in Japan that seem to be really common on these forums.

Yes i have heard that.I go on an Australian forum from time to time and see how much they pay for stuff that is cheap here.

At least 1 way is by division... Mine came from Mike at the Captive reef... He had cut the Momma off to sell to a client and just the smallest bit remained on the original mount... a month or two later mine was born from just that left over bit of tissue... She is now about the size of a golfball 6 months later

I actively feed her only about twice weekly when the micros eat... But she grabs Flakes, Mysis, Squid about every day as the fish eat
