ribbon eel?

the most reffered to(black and blue ones) are hard to get to a frozen diet. the usually die from malnutrition. also jumping out and what not cause they are so thin.

i have a ghost ribbon. same common name but not the same scientifically(i dont know the specific names). they have completely different faces.

for ribbon eels their is not alot of infor on captive care. that is another reason they do not do well for us..

my ghost is a great animal. eats frozen all the time.

ribbon proofing a tank is harder. but thats a human thing that we need to do.

they fit EVERYWHERE.. so take caution in that aspect.

if you get a black or blue one make sure you can set aside time and ALOT of patience for it.

the white ones are easier but not by much. IMO

HTH

yep. he is about 2.5 ft now. he is house with 2 fuzzy lions and a marine betta.

he bit my gf the other day and i almost hit the floor laughing(it was not the eels fault. she was being irrispocible by putting her hand in the tank not watching any animals accept the one she was trying to feed)

LMAO! wow, thats a realy good pic, thanks for replying so fast too... do you know if they will eat inverts like shrimp and carbs?

he has not eaten any snails to my knowledge. i have 7 turbos in the tank and i can count them all the time. he does not even try on the arrow crab that is in the same tank. hard to tell with hermit crab cause they kill eatch other. but i have yet to see him taste any of those

o yes he is. he comes out all the time. if i tap lightly on the glass he comes out and thinks its time to eat lol.

he comes out in the daytime to. he must know when the lions are swimming that it might be time to eat.

Ok cool, Now I think that I deffinatly want one... I know that they get long, but generaly how thick/ big around do they get?

WOW thats it?! Oh man, thats realy thin!!! do you think that larger fish will pick on him if I were to get one? What about a snowflake eel are they similar to Ghost ribbon eels?

i think i got what u said she did scream.

i would not put a snowflake and a ghost ribbon together. the snowflake gets muthicker and much more aggresive

No no no no, not together...lol, but instead of...

What do you think of this stock list...

ghost ribbon eel
bluejaw trigger
blue tang
yellow tang
4 or 5 chromis
and a marine betta...
and of course the shrimps and crabs and stuff...

i think the trigger MIGHT pester the eel.

thats the only thing i would worry about is the trigger. other than that i think it would be ok

hay your lions, do they even acknowlage the inverts in the tank? b/c I was looking over some olders threads of mine, and I was thinking of throwing an antenna lion in the mix... Obviously there is a risk with the trigger but I don't think it'll be to much of one... ???

triggers will chew the spikes off the lion. look at the sticky.

my lions are a hair smaller than the one you are reffering to. another thing is that antenna lions are not the greatest shippers. fuzzy lions and V. lions are the best shippers IMO

my lions only look at the inverts if i just put them in the tank. once they realize that they cant eat them they dont look anymore

well what about a dwarf zebra do they ship better? Or what if I could find one localy?
what do you mean "once they realize they cant eat them"... do they try to eat them at first? BTW what inverts do you keep?

I was reading on the forums and I read that Planctonic feeding triggers can make desent tankmates for lions... But Yes, there is still a chance that the trigger just ends up being an A-hole, and kills a bunch of fish, but bluejaws are tipicly less aggresive... so I've heard :/

The blue jaw, being a planktonic-feeder should be OK with a lion, the chromis and any shrimp or non-hermit crabs will be food someday with an antennata. Our antennata is a beast, both in size and feeding habits. It's an awesome-looking fish tho...I've never seen one the same color/markings as ours.

oh thanks Namxas for talking to me again, long time no talky... when ever a scorp. question arises, Namxas is there to help! lol :)

well what about arrow crabs??? Is there a schooling fish that can be kept with a lion? (besides large fish like tangs)
