I bought a rock with several large ricordea on them after three weeks they justed started falling off and floating. They are not dying but why did they just start falling off the rock. They came from a established tank with
400 watt m.h. Mine are 250 watts.
The former owner had it at the top under 400 watts. I had mine at the top under 250. I did not think I had to much flow. I have moved the rock to the bottom of tank. All the large ones are off the rock. I will see how the smaller
ones do now that I have lowred it.
I always start all corals on the bottom of the tank to acclimate slowly. While the prev owner may have had more light I'm sure he didn't have the same water perams. Every tank is different. Its really as simple as previously stated. They don't like where you put them. Sometimes light alone isn't the reason they detach. Its usually all of the above.
