rigleautomotive's Tank Pics Thread

Can you take a picture of your photo box, as im just using my D90 with nikon 105 2.8 lens on tripod and aren't too happy with any tanks shots I have tried. Outside pictures are great so it must be a light issue.

Well the photo box is just a simple rectangular box made from acrylic scraps(large enough to fit your particular camera/lens combo) with a hole in the bottom to attach to the tri pod mount on the camera.I don't have a photo of it but If you need one LMK

FYI It took me about 6 months with my D40 to get a photo even remotely good enough to post and oddly enough when I used a point and shoot my pics looked better then when I first got the SLR.It was a slow learning curve for me.

Spend a little time in the Photography forum, there are some pretty talented peeps there that helped me out greatly. GL

Dan thanks for the input, if you have some time to snap a pic doesn't need to be crazy even if you use a P&S camera. I was also int he same boat as my P&S takes better pics of my clown eggs than my nikon 50mm 1.8 and nikon 105mm 2.8. Put yeah i'm played with all sorts of settings, i really think it's light as said in the last post i have some awesome outdoor shots and maybe 4-5 really good tank shots and only of coral that are straight under the 400w MH.

awesome.

OK,I will try to get a pic of it this weekend and I will send it to you

thank you

No problem

Awesome colors you've got there! Are you running any leds on your tank?

Are you happy with your radium + vho combo or do you feel its too blue? I run radium + t5 actinic but im thinking about switching the t5's to VHO's but im worried it might be too blue?

Great looking tank.

I'm curious about your thoughts on detritus. Do you aggresively seek out detritus and vaccum/remove it yourself or do you rely on flow & clean up crews along with filter socks to keep your tank clear?

Thanks ,no LED supps.I love the radium/vho combo.Color is percieved so differently for each individual I would say its really personal preference.Either will grow corals and produce great colors.

Thanks.I do not vacuum. The Flow seems to really lift up any solids and either break them into suspension or just keep kicking it back and forth until it finds an overflow. The socks are cleaned 2 times a week and I feel its one of the least expensive ways to add clarity and remove solids to any reef(often over-looked).The fact they are renewable and can be used for many years is also a nice green plus

Beautiful Tank.

Thank You

is that from the Setosa frag you got from me? if it is how the heck you got that grow this fast? WOW Beautiful!

Amazing.... You got some crazy growth in your tank.. The yellow tort from a couple of months for example and the millie... Gosh.. You probably need a full time job to just prune and maintain such a tank.. Growth in your tank is a problem, lol.. Unlike everyone else, we want more growth, haha..

Hey after my post in this thread and looking at how awesome it is(your tank) I got the radiums and man that is a supurb bulb now if my corals will grow and color like yours
I'll be happy as he**. lol

I think I had them 2 weeks and my green slimmer started encrusting and grew about 8 bumps that are turning into limbs and the milli is loving its color the polyps extend further

Bulbs are such a personal preference that I try not to recommend specifics but I do not know many that have been disappointed with Radiums.I hope they do as well for you as for me.

The new growth is a positive sign for sure.GL

unreal... it took me two years to grow mine to that size, you've done it in 6 months, I have to stop by for a visit.
