rigleautomotive's Tank Pics Thread

Any updates?

Yea Rick,I will work on some new pics ASAP
As far as a play by play update,The tank is doing great presently and most acroporas are in a good growth spurt . I am keeping everything as stable as possible to keep it going. My colors are as good as ever and I think the maturity of the system is helping with this.I have been feeding very heavy lately and have not reached a point where things started to look worse for it. I am only seeing positive results from the extra food so I assume I was starving the corals prior to ramping up the food.No nuisance algae growing anywhere and I am going a full week between front glass cleanings now which is new for this tank.

die asterenia stars,die lol

LOL! Just added one myself, damn seastars! :uzi:

the corals must have rely loved the pruning it there going through a growth spurt : )

Actually I believe it does kick start growth in stagnant acros and I have been preaching this for years.Fragging a healthy coral will produce multiple active growth tips where one used to exist so overall growth is multiplied.

It is doing an amazing job for me so far.The tank I put him in was riddled with asternia(tiny grey ones) and almost all zoos were consumed one by one until gone. Now after a few months zoos are back and growing, reproducing etc... and I see no tiny stars on the glass.I will have to move the shrimp into another tank soon or he will probably starve.

dan, i must say very nice tank you got there. you give the rest of us inspiration that it can be done. i read that you said that you feed heavy, do you think that is the reason for the fast growth rate? how do you maintain water quality with the heavy feedings?

Thank You,I appreciate the nice comments

Absolutely, heavy feeding is one of the factors along with stable Alk,Cal and mg being very important.

As far keeping water quality with feeding more.
Heavy export with large weekly 25% water changes and using a strong aggressive skimmer.I believe using GFO or bacteria to keep phos and nitrate under control is another biggie
