do you get tired of hearing people tell you that your tank is awesome?

if so -- it's phenomenal!!

can you post an updated equipment / sump shot? looks like the last one was all the way back on page 2! would love to see the sump now.

Haha.Thank you.I really enjoy the feedback, both positive and negative.Another set of eyes inspecting my photos and corals are a welcome occurrence and some see what I do not. Here a few shots I thought were worth posting.

Hey Dan!

Glad to see everything is still kicking away. The frags i got from ya are doing quite well i have to say, much better then the order i got from another reefer. :)

Have to ask, have any sump shots?
and
Where are you keeping your undata at?

Take care bud!

Also, i have to ask. Are you using GFO / Carbon?

Can i also get a pic of your lighting setup? Im planning on getting myself a 180 in the next few months and i was going to go with 4-250w + T5, but you have some pretty amazing guys under 3-250w+ T5 so i might change my thoughts on it.

Thanks again Dan!

Awesome pics as always! CA checker hits the market shortly, sounds like another good investment. Heard N03 and Mg coming soon as well.

I will be getting all of them.I love the accuracy and ease of use.Deff a winner

spectacular tank and photos. awsome colors and love the clam too

Thank You

great pictures Dan thanks for the updates

Thanks bro

awesome pics!! may i ask what ballasts you use with your radiums? thanks

Yes I use ARO electronic ballasts and have for 6 or 7 years with no issues .I get great color and life on the bulb with these.

Great, the undata is on the bottom getting medium light and strong random flow.Sump looks the same as it did in the TOTM article except it is dirtier so I will spare you that, lol

Yes I run GFO and GAC in the DT.Three halides in the proper reflectors will do the tank just fine.No need to add another if you use a quality reflector.
Also,I run VHO tubes, not T5 ,just to clarify.I do not love the actinics in the
T5 size and nothing seems to satisfy the craving for color like the old school VHO actinics (UVL brand) for me

Are your aro electronic ballast hqi or regular electronic ballasts? I have an icecap electronic ballast and wanted to try radiums but i read that radiums would be too blue with electronic ballasts and needs to be run on hqi ballasts. Thanks

They are regular electronic ballasts.I would not believe all you have heard.I have ran approx 20 Radiums on these ballasts with no issues and IMO they fire on the white side if anything compared to other 20K lamps

cool!! thanks for the info :) BTW how long do you use your radiums before you replace them?

I have ran them for 14 months but I like to change them at 9 months. There is very little noticeable difference in color ,and loss of par at 9 months so it seems to be less shocking/stressful to the corals when changed out at this interval

Ill check out the TOTM article!

I knew you were running VHO's i cant decide between that and T5's for supplemental lighting. I got myself a killer deal on a 180 and 4 ballasts, but i was looking into new lighting on my smaller tank so i figure if 3 is working fine on yours im going to go that route. I was thinking og Lumenarc III minis before i even noticed u have them on yours so that saved me the next question of will those be alright :D

Im sure ill be PMing you if i have some questions when it comes time to build.
Hope business is still doing well Dan, the 4th brought in some real crazies over here.:hmm5: Havvvveee to love dealing with em :uzi:

:hmm3:Wow Dan, awesome shot!

Are you currently dosing anything aside from rotifers and oyster feast? Great colors - continue to be impressed!

Thank you.I am not dosing, just mg occassionally to bump the # up to spec.

Suggestions to help you get better color. Do Large water changes with parameter matched sea water, employ heavy wet protein skimming and add plenty of food with it being as varied as possible.Keep phos below .07 hanna checker, and alk,cal and mg in range and very stable.

This seems to be part of the equation for achieving my best colors.HTH

In my little 70 gal SPS I have been having some color problems. I change out 5 gallons every week, religiously. I'm running an extreme 200 skimmer, alk, mg, and cal are all good. Phos is about .05 (Hanna) Nitrates are also 0 (Lamotte). My colors are a little faded and I have been seeing some tissue recession at the base of my corals, particularly where light is not penetrating. I know some recession is normal in areas of low light but this is a little more recession than I'm comfortable with. I haven't lost any corals but it continues to happen to almost every piece in the tank. Does this sound like corals that are stressed from lack of nutrients/food to you?
