Rimless Aquarium Club

If you guys had Lumenbrights and a powermodule to use on a rimless 48x30x18, which one would you use. I feel the PM is a cleaner and sleeker look, but I just love MH. The other thing is that i will be hard to add supplementation with the LBs. which I like to have.

BTW I'll be joining the club this weekend

I prefer MH too and use a LB pendant.

I supplement with LEDs. Mounted behind the LB using marine grade velcro is an actinic Ecoxotic Stunner strip. And I hung a track lighting rail (from Lowes) to mount PAR38 LED spots - 2 Sunbrite actinics and 2 Nanotuners 12K.

My rock scape is coming along & I added a couple fish. Also moved a couple of corals over from the other tank, but nothing is mounted yet.





 
Here's mine! 120 Rimless Starphire 48"x24"x24" from glasscages and I built the stand.

My Elos 70 55Gal at my office that was setup this week. I'm using a Viper 150W Clip-on for now, I have a Elos E-Power 250W that I have to figure out how to hang it.

I am looking to do an 8ft tank rimless..

how high can i go with footprint of 96x30 ???

it will be 3/4 glass...

what is the maximum height that will be safe and strong as i will be using a few vortechs also...

Sorry for the late response....

My bulb combo is 8 ATI Blue +, 2 KZ Fiji Purple, and 2 Aquascience 15k. It is ridiculous, I just can't get the pictures to depict it properly. My tank looks "neon" for lack of a better term - The intensity of the flourescence and actinic pop is off the charts.

Rimless Aquarium Manufaturer/Distributor

Who are the best rimless manufacturers/distributors? I live in northern New Jersey and am looking for a tank for my first saltwater setup. I might just end up going with a 40g breeder because all the rimless tanks I've looked at are pretty pricey.
 
I am getting my 90gal rimless set up now...

Just curious, what fish are you guys successfully keeping in your tanks WITHOUT using netting, eggcrate, etc? Which fish are NOT jumpers?

I think it's possible for most fish to jump. I have even heard angel, tang, clown jumped, I think wrasse, goby and jawfish are probably the worst. I think fish like cardinal, clown, angel and tang have less chance to jump.
 
I have a yellow tang, one spot fox face, true perc clown, and chromis. So far only lost 1 chromis... jumping is an issue though definitely limits your choices... I would probably stay away from wrasses, gobies, fire fish, jawfish etc because they are usually jumpers. BRS sells netting now that you can put in a screen frame, but it kinda kills the look of the rimless tank in my opinion.
