Rimless Aquarium Club

if i built a 8ftx2ftx15"

do think i could do it rimless if i used 3/4" glass for the sides? or do you think i could get away with 1/2?

Yes you are correct but I figured it would be really cool to have an MP60. LOL

I've give an update how this ends up working out..

Can't wait to see some updated pics of your tank Logzor.
Especially interested in all the equipment you've bought to run this tank.
I've never set one up from a custom build, last tank I had was a Current USA Solana tank, so it was all built in etc...I'd like to see what it takes to get one of these bigger bad boys running.

Great start so far.

I think it's been 8 months since I posted in here, so here are some new pictures of my shallow rimless reef. It is 4'x2'x16" deep with LEDs. You can click on them for bigger versions.

Can I join the club? I finally got the tank on the stand tonight. I made the stand last weekend. My goal is to have a mixed reef with mostly LPS and some SPS. The tank dimensions are 36" x 30" x 16" 75gallon +/-. I hope to transfer everything over from my 65RR this weekend. Thanks.

That is awesome. What kind of tank and where did you get it?

Like the tank, where'd you get it from?

Brwestern,
Thanks! I bought the tank from Rickys Reef on Bird Road.

Amheck,
I had asked if it was a Reef Savvy but was told it was not. I was told another manufacturer made it. It does not have the signature Reef Savvy sticker on the front pane.

KGK,
Nice tank! How do you like the 16" height? With the sand bed depth and the water line clearance from the top of the tank, what is your usable water depth?

Really like the stand, especially the black toe kick and top. Gives it a contemporary look that compliments the tank.
Can you give any details? Materials?

I like it quite a bit. It's easy to light, easy to work in, and I really enjoy viewing it from above. There's about 13 1/2" of water or so in there, after sand + clearance at the top.

Eastcoaster1,
Thanks! The inner frame work of the stand is made from 3/4" x 4" strips of plywood that is lined with white plastic laminate. The beige color material on the outside is Formica plastic laminate #7747-58 Pencil Wood. The black trim is 1x4 poplar painted satin black. I have had stained and painted stands in the past and wanted to try a plastic laminate stand. The salt creep on the stained and painted stands was a pain to keep clean. I figure this time with the laminate it will be alot easier.
