Ritteri and clown question

I purchased a medium sized ritteri two weeks ago and it has been doing great. I had a small pair of onyx percs in my fuge since macna that I paired with it. Thet took to it almost instantly. Well today I see the larger of the two clowns actually gets inside the mouth of the anemone and comes back out. Just wondering if this is a problem as it seems pretty rough on the anemone. The ritteri still takes food and all but just wondering if I should remove the clowns for a little while longer. Thanks

If the anemone's mouth is open enough for the clown to get in, that is a pretty bad sign. Ritteris (magnificas) generally do better with clowns than without unlike some other types of anemones, but you might want to remove the one that is harrassing it.

A picture would really help us help you out.

Heres the only pic I have right now, Its sitting far back in my 360 and hard to get a closeup. The mouth is closed nice and firm but the clown forces its way in. Its under a 400 watt m/h with LaIII reflector and flow is provided by 4 x 6100 w/ controller and the return goes through a OM super squirt.

Hard to tell for sure from the pic, but it looks like it is in excellent shape. If it was me I would watch the clown closely and wait and see if it continues or if it is just overzealous because it found a magnifica in the tank. As long as the anemone is able to eat and the clown isn't biting tissue off I don't think he can do much damage. He is likely going after the anemone poop to eat, yum.

Best of luck and please keep us updated :)

Thanks, he hasnt done it today while the wife or myself was around the tank. Will keep udated on progress.
