Ritteri question

Is it possable to over light a ritteri anemone? I got one back in December and whem it come out of the bag settled in the bottom of the tank and attached to a rock so i just left it and thought it would move on its own. It never moed a inch. A few weeks ago i rescaped my tank and when I did I moved it up higher in the tank almost to the top. I had been told by several people that it was way to low and needed to be higher it it would die. Sense I moved it it has shrunk some and has went from a deep purple and green to a lighter purple and green. And also stopped eating the krill i was feeding. I moved it back down last night and it seams much happier now and back to the full size it was before and is rasing itself up again from its pedaland covering the whole rock and the tentalces are full size again. So is it posiable that i over lit it? He also dosent like alot of flow which I thought was odd
 
IMO some like alot of light some like low light some like alot of flow some dont like alot of flow..
Some will do better at the bottom of the tank and some like the top.. Let it move on its own, if its not happy it will move to find somewhere, mine loved the bottom of my tank for years and then one day it moved to the very top and has been there since.. either way it was happy and looked great in both spots..

Also moving any coral or animal from lower light to higher light will cause it to lighten in color usually from the sudden change in intensity..
 
It never moved from the rock it originally landed on at the bottom of the tank. I moved rock and all up to the top. I'm considering moving it all the way back down to where it was to start with

As mobile as Ritteri anemones are it is highly doubtful they would get too much light. My first one made a five foot trek across the tank because the other metal halide had a new ballast that over drives the bulb. I switched them around and he went back to his old spot. Both Ritteris I have had absolutely loved getting blown around by the MP 40s and getting as close as possible to the lights. They can easily find a more comfortable spot.

I'll post one tonight when I get home but it most def. is a Ritteri. I've also got rbta's. and they do move all the time. I don't think they like the ritteri being in there.

The ritteri probable doesnt like them being there..haha if its a small tank theres a good chance they wont be too happy with each other..on the other hand they can all get along fine.. People are always rolling dice when they mix diff nem species, some have great sucess some have complete war in their tanks..

they all seam fine. well inflated,eats good have good colors. the btas just keep moving

Doesn't look like a BTA. I'd say you likely shocked it with the move from lower light to the top of the tank. You want to acclimate them slowly, often using screen diffusers. When I received my bleached Mag, I started it at the bottom of the tank until it regained pigmentattion and then I moved it upward. Perhaps you just didn't acclimate it enough. Mags typically aren't an anemone to stay put if they aren't happy and not receiving enough light. You may be better off leaving it where it is happy. Can you tell us more about your lighting?
 
He looks great to me. It is a Magnifica. I just leave him alone and it will choose the right spot. How much light do you have on him?
 
The odd thing is he looks better and is opened farther when just the leds are on. The tank is a 90 gallon could I remove the halides and just run the leds or would they not be strog enough
 
Hey I just saw where you asked for a update the nem is doing great and hasnt moved from where i put it when I mentioned earlier in the thread that i moved it up off the bottom. My clown loves it. I lost all the fish in my tank due to some illness but my female clown and a lawnmower blenny. So now I have to replace her mate along with my other fish. But back to the nem. I'm feeding it about every 2 or 3 day as I remember to give it something when I feed the rest of the tank. I'll post a pic of him later on in the day when my lights come on
