I believe the one that comes with the RKE is just to lengthen the temp probe.
I bought a float switch and it came with another red & black cable that had the ends already cut.

Either way I believe it will work for either. So right now the original one that came with the RKE kit is just sitting in the box

This was so easy to hook up, tomorrow my liner module comes in, and then I am currently trying to locate a NET mod and I will be good. Why didn't I get one of these earlier.

I haven't messed with the my reef 2 yet. But plan to to name outlets for easier ID.
I din;t get the net module for this go. Just wanted a simple heater light and top off controller.

My NET module should be here tomorrow or friday. I went though yesterday and renamed all outlets, but ran into an issue. Does anyone know if you can hook up a surge protector to one channel so that I can place all three of my MH fixture on one channel? This will clear up 2 channels and I wouldn't have to buy another PC4.

i don't see why you couldn't just be sure you put them on a high amp outlet...not the 3A ones.

How was the my reef install? pretty easy? I have to do it.

MyReef is simple - next, next, yes, next, enter, etc... But it looks like it is only used to update the firmware. I don't see anywhere on there where you can program the unit. You still have to program it via the control module.

I used the program itself to program all funtions. BRS actually has a video on how to do this. It simple terms you click onto which PC4 you want then click on the channel and rename it and set the times. I cant figure out the head unit to save my soul. So I have a dedicated laptop for my reef now.

Setting up is easy, if you want to view it outside of your home network (port forwarding)that's a pain in the rear part

Damn it, that's the reason I was getting it. I travel alot. Hopefully it comes with instructions unlike everything else I received from DA. But if it is to big of an issue I have my IPhone ap for it.

Setting up the NET module isn't too tough. The biggest problem people run into is dealing with their ISP and blocked ports. You need to be able to access your home network from the outside. This involves port forwarding, static vs dynamic IP's, etc. There are a couple great threads on how to do this on the DA support forum. http://forum.digitalaquatics.com.

I can access myReef from anywhere with a computer or my iPhone. There is an Android app as well.

Fishgate - Not sure why you couldn't figure out how to program things with myReef. When you open it up, there is a list of modules on the system in a tree on the left. Just click on a module and the programming is right there on the next screen. Click on the output you want to program and go for it.

By the way...support questions will get answered much quicker on the DA support forum. Those of us that help out rarely answer questions here. I know at least that I don't because I am not on RC often enough.

Ok I recieved the NET module at I am very tempted to return it Monday. I thought maybe it would be plug in play. Well this is by far, all I want to do is use my iPhone app and I can't figure that out. So now I have a useless module.

There is no such thing as a plug and play network device. You have to set up your router so you can access your home network from outside. No controller vendor can do that for you. Do you know anyone with any IT savvy that can help you? What kind of router do you have. ?

I'm out of town but when I'm back next week i can walk you through it if you haven't figured it out by then. First thing is you need to get it working within your house. We'll deal with getting it working externally later.
