im ordering pair number 2 this week i read this whole thread again and i have decided one pair is not enough. so get ready for more pics of baby onyx

hi guys,
i have been following this thread for some time. i am planning on getting a pair of rod's onyx once the weather gets a little better for shipping ( i am in cali).
after seeing some of the pics of these gorgeous fish, i have observed that they are a bit more disc like compared to regular percula fish. umm dunno if it makes sense but thats the only way to describe what i am observing, atleast the only way i can think off :) they are more disc like and boxier.
is it just me or is it true? not that it makes any difference. just an observation.

they are a lil bit shorter and thicker than a regular perc for sure that is definetly one of the things that attracted me to them

good luck snabss they are awsome fish

Yeah, I had a GBTA for three years, I sold it to see if the clowns would turn. Two months later and no luck. There was a thread I had posted on about it awhile ago but I lost track of it.

Either way, I didn't like my tank without an anemone and I got a great deal on this rose so I picked it up. My clowns are happy and I guess I really don't care if they get all black. I'm still crossing my fingers though, some people have RodOnyx with BTA's that have no problem, maybe this BTA is different? Maybe a difference w/ rose and green or maybe no difference at all.

Who knows!?

I feed Rod's food, Formula 1 & 2 and the Formula Prime Reef.

I noticed yours looked much more orange after I posted my pics? I wonder why, what do you feed?

Rods, cyclopeze, and formula 2 flake
somebody here has had allot of color come to his after he switched from BTA to a haddoni Carpet

frogspawn and a hammer
i am in the market for a healthy carpet mine lost a lil bit of color in the dorsal fin since i got them but not much

Mine didn't have the third stripe when I got them and the middle stripe was just getting started. The female was misbarred but that grew in, and no black between the middle and third stripe. I used to be concerned about it but now I figure it is what it is.

Hey NewSchool04, Sorry to hear taking the BTA out didn’t work. Your female looks less brown now. I may get rid of my Rose and try a Sebae when I get my 58 up. Maybe that will help mine darken up or I might just try another pair, as most of Rod’s clowns seem to turn full onyx. My male is still orange and my female is more yellow now. I’ve had mine since last May.
