Rod's Onyx

They host in a variety of things in my tank. The larger pair(I called them a pair because they're always together) host in sabae anemone which I bought probably 4 months ago.

This pair is slow in color but were the first ones to complete their third stripe. The black is filling slowly but surely. You can also see some of the dorsal spines are black. I think they're more black since these pictures were taken.

The smaller pair seem to like the Goniopora. But the goniopora and I are not too happy about it. The goni retract the tentacles when the clowns are too rough on it.

This pair, though smaller, have complete their coloration and stripes. The black actually came in before the third stripe was fully developed. You can see the top left clown third stripe is still finishing up connecting on the edges.

I just bought an Aussi Elegance coral a couple days ago and the smaller clowns seem to love it and the elegance don't mind at all. This is good because it gives my gonia break and can extent their tentacles to look more like a goni. The smaller pair seem to go back and forth between the elegance and the goni. But they sleep in the goni at night. If the Aussi elegance thrive for the next 3 months or so. I'll add another one and to replace the sabae.

I've seen my clowns play in the large clam, hammer coral, and my toadstool. They don't necessary stay their for long but hover above it and occasionally dive in the toadstool.

Sorry for all the details. :D I do look at my clowns very closely.

hey 'this is me' what are your clowns hosting?

I'm not sure if hosting or not hosting influence the color but I do know for a fact(in my experience) that BTA.RBTA faded my clowns coors.
I've documented the experience in this thread.

will a carpet anemone influence more black in the clownfish? or will keeping them away from an anemone influence more black? I'm introducing them into the main tank in the near future and want to know

I'm with nick i took my RBTA out a couple weeks ago and while my fish don't look like his yet they are getting their color back.

unfortunately i think my male might have caught internal parasites from some Apogon cardinals that i did not QT... i need to set up my qt system and pull them out but im not going to rush it because its been a couple months and he is still ok just stringy poop and while he eats a ton he doesn't put on any weight.

any chance you feed them anything with garlic?

Rods food might have some garlic? I could try adding fresh garlic to it as well, I will try the spectrum Thera A first.

ok thanks

hey Zoom one more quick question, when feeding the thera A is it important to only feed thera A? can i alternate between thera A and Rods food?

I will go solo with thera A for at list four weeks so you can clean the internal parasites on the fish .
Man nice pictures everyone :eek1:

Gsm guy since i have had experience with my fish not doing to swell i have added fresh garlic in combo with rods fod. Also

"Small studies have shown that garlic exerts antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.2 Topical and dietary garlic traditionally has been used in the treatment of infections-particularly digestive, respiratory, and dermatologic infections-ranging from diarrhea and vaginitis to colds and warts, but few good clinical studies support this use." found online :D

Thanks again. Good info.

Anybody ever extract garlic juice and dose a couple drops directly to the tank?
