Roger`s Lagoon

Amaaaaazing roger!!!
Great pics as always.
You have some beautiful corals in there!

I also love the regal.
One of the best photos i've ever seen!

Thanks:)
I really can`t take cred for the photos, my friend Andreas took them. He is called Maskinsmyg in here:) Check out his tread aswell.

I think that your aquascape is fantastic. Really all the different iterations of it, great job.

Noticed that you are running carbon as passive, is that correct? What do you think of it?
Are you running GFO as well?

What parameters are you targeting, thanks?

Hey, thanks:) Glad you like it.
Yes, I run carbon in a filterbag in the sump, and monthly changes. I works well for me.
Well, I am not really targeting any specific parameters, other than trying to keep things stable. I belive stable parameters are the key to success.

And here is a pic of the latest addition:)

Tusen takk:)

Roger, your tank is stunning. Great job my friend.

These pictures make my eyes bleed. Amazing.

Thanks:)

This tank has grown soo much, I look forward to updates. What are your current parameters ?

Yeah, I am happy with the growth:) Thank you.

Roger can you please provide detail on what foods you feed the FISH and SPS CORALS? How often do you feed? Many thanks.

Hi, Sahin.
Well I feed pellets three times a day, and I mix up different pellet types from Ocean Nutrition. I also feed Ocean Nutrition flakes, different types here aswell. Some days I give my fishes Reef Paste.
Two times a week, brown or green Nori.
Every evening frozen food, trying to mix these up to. I belive in a variaty in feeding to keep the fish healthy.

The only thing I feed my corals is Amino Acid, and they also get some from the Reef Paste.

Disaster!

Disaster!

Well, this is what happened.

Came home from Christmas holiday, and the livingroom floor was wet... All my flooring needs to be changed:(
The skimmer had went crazy and some things I really dont understand made a mess inside the cabinet and after a while it flooded the floor.

Since I live in a small apartement the tank must be broken down, the apartement must be without flooring for two - three weeks so everything is dry, before they replace the floor.

There is three options for me.

1. Sell the corals and fishes, and restart the tank later this year.

2. Take everything down, move it to my LFS, and move it back after the floor is back.

3. Sell everything.

This is a huge stepback, and I must admit that this has taken a bit of my reefkeeping inspiration away... And ofcouse this happened when everything started to look ok.

Well, I am really not sure what to do. I will for sure loose many of the big corals, since they have grown onto the rocks and so on...
On the other hand, if I will restart I allready have a plan for a little change in the aquascape, and changes in the technical layout. Maybe a new frame for the tank to.

So still not sure what to do...

I`ll let you know...

For now, not so happy reefkeeping:(

Option three is out of the question roger!!
No way i will take it as an option!:thumbdown

These moments define how passionate and in love we are ,with our hobby!
And i'm sure you love it!
It sure is a step back and nerve breaking BUT it is also a chance for a well planned restart:thumbsup:

If you don't have any rare or close-to-your-heart livestock sell everything and
start from scratch as soon as the floor is ready!
That is an option i will gladly accept:beer:

Corals will grow big and on the rocks again, new acuascape and live stock will inspire you again and your coral colors and fishes will one more time make you-us smile!

Keep your head up!

Det er for synt!
Norwegians save the word "love" for the very dear. I bet Roger is very fond of the hobby though. Everyone goes through things like this, you'll get through it!

I am so deeply sorry that this happened. :(

However, if I were you, I'd even pay LFS/friend to house the best SPS pieces and setup another tank.

Dont give up my friend. Because once the flat is restored and time has passed, you will surely miss the beauty and joy of this hobby.

Don't give up. Do what you can to save the corals and make sure it never happens again. Things happen, but you learn from them. GL getting this all taken care of!

You can't throw it in! your tank was amazing. Save what you can and rebuild. I am sure the rebuild will be even better! not sure how but it will.

Thanks for the support guys!

Thanks for the support guys!

Well, what a strange start of the year it has been. Started of with nearly total disaster almost crashing the tank, and wet floor. Tank is still up and running because this is what happened in february. Went to Canada for a three week skiing trip. Came home with a broken leg, broken ankle and torn ligament. Still jumping around on crutches and it is only a couple of weeks since my last surgery. Well, everything in my life was postponed. So the tank is still running, and the floor still needs to be changed. But now It looks like I get help with tearing down the tank, and I can start focus on my rehab, while the carpenters fixes my floor.

Just wanted to share some Top Downs I did today with my Iphone.

The tank is pulling thru even with lack of maintenace from me over long period.

Prepare for a Montipora overload;) It is my favorite corals:)
