Rovster's Custom Reef Savvy build......FINALLY!!!

There still a couple of barely pale ones but nothing like before. I did get a teeny bit of stn on a couple of pieces. I just fed the fish more and upped the additives. I am getting ready to scale it back though as my eyes are telling me I'm approaching the upper nutrient limit. I am also overdue for a waterchange and due for my next Prodibio dose so that may be at play as well. Alk has been much better been testing morning ang night because I added quite a bit to my dosing program.

I've also bumped my T5 up to where I want them. In a few weeks I'm going to start ramping up the Radions again. I still feel there are a few corals in there that are telling me they want more light. I did snap a few quick pics yesterday. I'll try to get them up later....

This has always been a question for me - how do you know they want more light and are not depleted of another element/ingredient? Do particular types of SPS exhibit different signs, is it just paleness or retarded growth as well? Do you have a PAR meter? I haven't scaled up my LEDs once - the midday whites are at 57% and blues are at 70%...

Yes you can see the difference. When the water is clean, no cyano and algae, and tissue is on the darker side and possibly leaning in the brownish direction they need more light. Sometimes if the color looks flat, they need more light. Its hard to tell with LEDs but for me I just start low and go from there. Its obvious when you've gone too far. I hit that a while back at around 75% overall intensity. I'm at 50% now so I know I have room to go up. I think I will settle in the 60-65% range as that's where things were precrash and they were looking sweet!

Great info, I just upped the whites to 60%, going to see if that has some positive effects. I have also noticed that when there are more particulates in the water my color begins to suffer as well - guessing the light refraction isnt as deep due to solid objects dispersing the light...might just be me though

Qt tank. Currently in hypo. A couple fish have ich and I lost 1 anthias today. I plan on 8-10 weeks hypo then a couple rounds of prazi. My qt tank is my "ghetto tank" so it's fully equipped with ato and all. My ghetto tank was origionally supposed to be a qt but it turned into an sps ghetto monster. I have copper and s few other meds on hand but prefer to avoid them.

It's funny, all fish I've ever qt'd to this point have died and or are sick. All the ones I've plopped into my tank have lived with the only exception being carpet surfers. Go figure!

I had the exact same result. QT'd a bunch of fish, even used cupramine, most died. Added a bunch of fish directly to the tank, never had a spot of ick, not even after a full tank move. Go figure...

I've tried to post these pics 3 times, friggin' photobucket.

I took these the other day. Going to start increasing the intensity this weekend on my radions. I've got my T5's running 5 hours now in the middle of my lighting period and I think I'm going to leave it there. I did a large waterchange this past weekend and I already notice the difference.

First up is my monti trio. Blue bases back which tells me things are happy....

I added this mystic sunset I got at the frag swap from JPS. Been wanting this for a while....

I'm really excited to see these guys grow out. I also got them at the swap. Forgot the names. One on the left was pricey, but immediately grapped my attention. Looks better under blues. I just have to figure out where to put them...

Recently fragged this puppy for a friend. Chunky frag too, but still going strong! The color is so beautiful on this thing. Its the coral most people ask about when they see my tank for the first time...

This guy is making progress. I started this guy a long time ago as a 1/4" nub....

I feel like this guy has stalled out. I am seeing better polyp extension and color, but its kind of stagnant...

Miyagi tort turning the corner in the color department.

LOVE this one....:inlove:

BattleCorals "red table". Started as a tiny freebie, its nicer than my Christmas mirabilis, red planet, and TDF LOL!

Alright, I give up. I just posted a ton of pics and photobucket is being a PITA! I quit. I'll try later.....

I've had this red planet for almost 2 years and I've almost lost it several times. It's done nothing but encrust until now. Little nubs everywhere...

Aquaman Winterfresh acro waiting for me to crank up the radions...

Purple planet shaping up...

Just added this purple plasma, excited to see this grow out...

BC glostik got pummeled in the rockslide. Excuse the superglue repair....

Purple flamingo grown a lot but missing some light lol.

My mirabilis was toast. Brown turd with stn. Coming back from the dead...

Palmers...

Joes rainbow got thick and little nubs coming through.

Sorry for posting a monti lol

Pink lemonade has sick PE...

Ok now for some turds....

This think has been encrusting a ton. I wish I could move it but it's way past the plug. It's supposed to be special.....maybe one day lol

My most expensive acro.....it's s turd, to embarrassed to name names....

Superman dark but growing. More light pleez!!!!

Newly acquired Joe the coral....

OP basing out...

Blue matrix showing awesome PE

Damon's green table getting some size..

Eddies Hawkins....grow pleez grow!!!

Last one for now. Earlier in the thread I posted this 1/4" nub of my crayola. I planted it in a higher light area. Looks a TON better than mother colony. Basing like crazy and nubs popping up...
