I set mine at 9.5" and the nozzle is 4 turns out. I tried 10" and had no room to adjust it. If you choose 10" then about 2.5 turns out seems to best for my setup.

Thanks for the info! I've tried above method (9.5 inches water and 4 turns out on the nozzle) with using wedgepipe (wedgepipe is almost in the close position) to control the foam/bubble within the skimmer and for some reasons the skimmer still does not produce enough foam/bubbles head to reach the bottom of the cup. Do I have a defective skimmer?
any other recommendations?
thanks

Can you post some photos of your setup please?

I'm in 8.5" of water (no fluctuation)
3 turns out on nozzle
As of last night the skimmer overflowed.
I opened the wedge pipe to 100%
but am getting a Ton of bubbles out of of the skimmer outlet

Any ideas?
IIRC the nozzle adjustment affects the amount of air to water?

I have a one month old Alpha 170 for sale if anyone is intrested. I am upgrading to a larger system. I will be getting a larger Alpha. I love these skimmers!!

I have a problem on silencer on my Alpha200. I am trying to open the silencer, but I cannot.
How do you open the silencer to clean the inside?

I'm considering upgrading my skimmer to a Alpha 170 for a 120G heavy loaded SPS reef with a 20G sump. I currently have only three fishes, but I plan to add many more.

Do you thing the Alpha 170 is the ideal fit for my reef or should I go for the Alpha 200?

What is the ideal water level to run the Alpha 170?

Regards
Andre
