RR jaw dropper

Don't get me started on that stupid thing, but again a prime example of people whining over something the MARKET decides.

It appears to me that some people are just bitter because they don't have access to this wonderful RR signature Acro.

HATE, HATE, HATE!

LOL...you guys are hilarious.

Getting all upset at the price of a frag, when clearly people are willing to pay the price.

You also get so upset about the photos, yet the demand for the frag by the people who have seen it in person exceeds the amount of frags available. (clearly whatever it looks like is good enough for the people to pay a high price....IN Canada as well)

Don't like the price? Think its photoshopped?... then don't buy it!

Very entertaining, thanks for the laugh this morning.

You are missing the point, and must not be aware what happened on another forum.. the point is "bait and switch" and "sales plant reefers they use to pump there corals. One persons post states "I say they hold color" some sarcasm noted until a RR pic is posted then it goes to "not fully colored til colony..."...didn't she just say they did? Has a macro lens and top down box but cannot focus but can white balance? Same MO RR uses every time...everyone forget about 2yrs ago when they posted 1.5-2" healed/colored frags but then shipped (8months later) $200+ <1/2" fresh cut brown frags that most already started to RTN in bag
As you were not investing your money/time as others including myself.
RR started by trying to pimp a green Peniculata (i have seen the colony in the pic in person that the pic was from..not in Asia or Canada)as JD colony. So you may find it humorous but the EXTENSIVE loss of time pulling CITES on an finalized agreed deal cost self employed persons (all 3 parties involved) a lot more than a $600/frag and no coral...

Well post a picture of yours with full PE and yes I am hating on such a hi priced Sps that if I want it I could have it. But what stops me is when I paid $200 for a single pyolp of Blane's true PPE only to see them now for sale at $20 bucks. So again please post pictures of this $600 frag so I can shut up.

LOL...you are hilarious...keep it up buddy.

Don't like RR, stop dealing with them...I don't give a crap what they did. I know a lot more then you think Dknuckles, I just chose not to get engaged in the stupidity of the debate. You have a choice... deal with RR or don't. Unfortunately RR isn't on the forms to debate his side of the story (there is always two sides to the story)

As I said above, people in Canada who have seen the frags in person have no problems paying the high price. (well some of us anyways)

So in your words...RR screwed over a bunch of people in a previous sale on that other form ....and you are trying to business with them, fully knowing the last order didn't go well?

Hilarious!

I don't need to post a thing....hate away, you are not hurting RR Canada (who's business is 95% Canadian customers).

Let's be honest with our friendly neighbors. The people in Canada who see it in person are not paying $500 or $600 dollars per frag. I'm not saying it's right or wrong as it is a lot easier to sell it to the person sitting in your store vs. Paper work and risk of shipping it to another country.

And really it is the market or the people who are willing to pay that set the price. If no one buys it I guess they would have to adjust the price... so IMO its the people that buy it that set the price. If you don't like it don't buy it but why whine to the retailer (sounds like your grip should be with the people who buy it). His job is to get as much money as he can for his limited product.

Vailed threat?!!? Classy...

I believe we all make mistakes so I do believe in 2nd chances. However, repeat performances dictates. Then when I see others defending such actions I just have to laugh and re-read my previous post...

The price is not the issue @all! Will it be RRs pic version 1,2,3,4...or reefer X1s,reefer X2s...etc.

Well said.

IF the frag was selling for $350+ in Canada why would RR sell it for the same price in the US and have to go through all the trouble getting the paperwork. There has to be some sort of incentive (i.e. price increase/quantity purchased) to ship to the south.

No hard feelings in this thread, I am just adding my opinion based on what I have seen with my OWN eyes (not speculating on photos taken by other people)

I will say it again...its is a gorgeous frag!

It hasn't been WELL proven in captivity, but has the potential to be mind blowing...

So your issue is the pictures? If you have t seen a picture that satisfies you why do you even want it. Just walk away.

If hydrologist says it's a sweet piece I'm sure it is... He definitely knows what a nice coral looks like. I have heard good things from multiple people so I'm pretty sure they are not trying to sell a turd for bucks.

Its Veiled threat, and I fail to see in my post where you get that idea.

I fully agree with everything you are saying except it has been proven in captivity, its just most people cant verify that....I personally have seen the mother colony a year ago when it came in and recently also. It has only gotten much more colourful and grown quite a bit, polyping and encrusting
the whole time. So that proves it ability to survive. Now will people beiieve me ?.....lol....time for some pics of the mother...Im heading to RR today anyways and will bring my DLSR for some nice photos of the mother...the drama continues...

I said 'WELL' proven in captivity. 1 year isn't IMO isn't enough time to say that it has proven itself, but it sure is a good start :)

I don't think anyone is debating its survivability (clearly its alive as there are frags) its the colours that sometimes take well over a year to establish themselves.

Hey Richard....a mother colony pic would be great.

Seems like you have the whole history on this coral.....from what I was remember a year ago Jay (RR canada) imported a few frags last year from RR asia and we never had a mother colony here in Canada. Maybe Im remembering wrong but I never did see a mother colony at RR.

If we did have a mother colony here who has/had it? Also are their more than one mother colony or is this all just originating from the one mother colony.

One year in captivity and still colourful and growing is pretty good.

It seems to me these limited addition frags and their outlandish prices, which some pay, are about collecting rather than anything else. I think a lot out there drive up the price and pay crazy amounts because they want to say they have a piece of the RR Jaw Dropper, because it is a part of a collection, more so or just as much as they think the coral is awesome looking. To me, I'm not a collector, I like nice corals at more grounded prices, and I enjoy the challenge of growing SPS. If I wanted to get back into collecting, I'll get back into hockey cards. At least they aren't printing more Wayne Gretzky rookie cards, and you can expect a return that is near your initial investment or possibly better on resale. Assuming this frag takes to aquaculture, in 5 years or so there will be plenty of $20 frags to share. Regardless of the photos it looks like a nice piece and hopefully those of you who get it, that it lives up to your expectations.

I've seen two frags in person. IMO they are amazing and worth the cost considering where I live we don't get pieces like this. I've bought from rr before with great results.
These pieces seem to me to be slow grower and slow to color up saying that I think the price will remain high or get higher.
I have a couple rr pieces that have gone up in price due to avalibility.
And I will aquire one ASAP.

Both my pink Floyd and orange passion have gone up in price. Which for me I guess is good. I think the higher prices keep these limited as there's not a lot of people who will pay the price. I will though lol
